echotango
Anyone try these vs pins in a wet tumbler? Tired of stuck pins in the flash hole. Edited March 11, 2017 by echotango
Steve RA
If you go to the XL size pins you won't have that problem anymore. Pellets LLC manufactures them but they are available from a number of dealers.
echotango
What size?
dssoulek
The XL pins I've seen are listed as .062" x .495" nominal. Not sure if they came from Pellets LLC or not.
Steve RA
Thats it ! You can't get two in the primer gas hole, they are also easier to deal with than the small ones.
echotango
But you can still get one.

I have never had a piece stuck in any case or flash hole in the last 2 1/2 years, ever. I use about 7lbs per 1.2gal drum, so a little more than is needed. Myself, I wouldnt use those little cones. Too much like little ball bearings IMHO. Drop some on the concrete and they are gone forever. I like clean primer pockets as well, and those balls will probably not clean them unless they are very small. If you are are just tumbling to make the outside of the brass shiny, and dont care a whole lot about inside the case or the primer pockets, then just dont use media at all. I do this with really cruddy range brass before it hits my sizing dies, an hour tumble with no media to get the cases cleaned up a bit. Its comes out about 90% spotless. Steve RA
True, but one XL pin won't stick in the primer flash hole.

I think the problem children pins are the .042" and smaller pins.
Steve RA
That is probably correct.
