nikdanja
If I were to take a 80% lower and finish it myself to make an off the books gun, could I also make it into a 10" sbr without filling out paper work?
Nathanb
If you serialize it. Which really defeats the purpose. Buy an Anderson it's fifty bucks.
nikdanja
Just now, Nathanb said: If you serialize it. Which really defeats the purpose. Buy an Anderson it's fifty bucks. So you do have to fill out paperwork even tho the gun is off the books?
Nathanb
Yes. You can't have a registered nfa item without a serial. Once you want to file a form 1 you become he manufacturer and must serialize it. You will also have to put the make of the receiver on your form 1. If it doesn't have one you're not going to get approved.
akaider
Even if it is a 80 diy you will have to comply with bafte as far as the sbr part of it. Its not the diy part its the sbr part that matters in this case. It will also void the off the books part of it since you will have to serialize it in order to fill up the sbr paperwork.
