BrknCylncr
Broke my hammer. Just did a search and was surprised to see nothing posted regarding the Cammer Hammer. Was anybody bold enough to try one out in their beloved Single Stack gun? Seems gimmicky. My first option is http://www.1911store.com/tunedtriggergroupbcg-proseries.aspx. Any other suggestions? GringoBandito
I'm a big fan of the Brazos set. He knows how to cut a sear well and the combination of parts has served me well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
scubajosh77
That looks like an EGW lightened hammer? Was it Melonited by chance? Had one break like that before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BrknCylncr
Yes... it is a EGW lightened hammer. It received the nitride/PVD ion bond treatment. Not sure if that's a different way of saying Melonited. I already sent a note to EGW and they quickly replied (on a Sunday of all things) that they will replace it. BeerBaron
EGW is top notch parts to I'm not surprised they agreed to replace the hammer. the heat during PVD could have weakened it...
scubajosh77
Yup Melonite is the same. The issue is the temperature at which it's done. It's a fantastic finish but can make thin parts like the posts on that hammer brittle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tyler2you
The temperatures required for PVD are typically lower (480-840 F). Melonite (Salt Bath Nitriding) typically occurs at around 1,076 F.
