phil plesetz
Who makes the BEST? I have had many, and most are junk from the get-go, or shortly after use. Don't have interest in anything related to long guns, shotguns, rifles etc. Thanks,
armydad
I like my Remington kit. It uses cables to pull brushes and they're squeegee's through. I'm don't think they call them squeegees but that's what how they seem to work. They sell the things individually or as a master kit for just about all calibers pistol, rifle and shotgun. Bore cleaners, and chemicals come with the kit, but different folks are particular to their chemicals. I like prefer the cables to rods and it makes the kit very compact. This is what I have: http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/717446/remington-squeeg-e-universal-cleaning-kit?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Shooting+-+Gun+Cleaning-_-Remington-_-717446&gclid=CjwKEAiAirXFBRCQyvL279Tnx1ESJAB-G-Qvs43MPTflCWchl2afawZftTxohjWIj5H92bm6Y6gl1xoC1lXw_wcB

EliteGuard
I prefer J Dewey Rods cleaning kits. They have kits with a rod and kits with a pull through. I have been using their kits for 2 years now and I have yet to break anything. They sell everything individually as well so once you need a caliber change or something you can just order the part you need instead of buying another full kit. ScottieShootz
I use Hoppe's boresnakes on mine.
BeerBaron
honestly for me all you need is: a bag of good patches (I like the gunslick brand ones) a rod a brass jag attachment (for use with the patches) a nylon brush head attachment a bronze brush head attachment one of the nylon brushes with a big head and small head one of the same as above but in bronze bottle of hoppes 9 bore cleaner oil of some kind bore snake is handy for quick cleans too some q tips for cleaning the lug area, barrel bed area and firing pin tunnel the plastic EGW/10-8 tool is also handy for getting into small spaces etc if you had to buy a kit to start with the gunslick pistol kit is not bad. the bore cleaner it comes with is good as is the oil and the patches. the rods are just rods like anyone else's. I do have the double alpha kit which is handy as it stores all the stuff neatly and folds open to a mat but it comes with heaps of bits you don't really need (stainless steel brushes for instance!). this is the DAA kit, not bad at $50USD atm including a bore snake. http://www.doublealpha.biz/combo-cleaning-kit-gun-rope
Can
My cleaning kit only contains chloroform, I put some on the patch, then run the patches into my nose every time I think about cleaning my guns.
harryorwell
i was wondering if anyone has ever tried Slip 2000 on gun barrels in a small container. This stuff seems to do a bang up job on my shotgun chokes and other small parts and I think it would be a snap for pistol barrels but i havent seen anyone endorse it for this use so i'm worried there is some reason i don't know about. I realize you have to lub and protect after you use Slip. Anyone have any input on this? Thx in advance. HL
tact
I don't see why there would be a problem with Slip. I use it on all of my weapons.
