dstein
Hello, I am considering purchasing an STI Edge (9mm Luger). I have carried a Glock 19 for years and have no trouble carrying it concealed. What are your thoughts about carrying the STI Edge concealed? I know that there is a size and weight difference compared to the Glock. Just wanted to see if any of you have experience carrying the Edge and what advice you have. Thanks!
twodownzero
A 5" barrel, long dust cover, unique slide gun is not a carry gun, plain and simple.
dstein
Thanks, TIm. I appreciate your straightforward reply.
racknrider
Too much weight and bulk for me. Although I have carried my Eagle on occasion.

Not only is it a 5 inch barrel its a bull barrel. Its just so heavy and big its not practical. I wish it was but its not. If you ask me I'd say stick with the 19 110% for carry, and that might be an understatement.
MaddHatter
I believe they just put out a new carry gun for shot show that is worth a look.
warpspeed
If by concealed you mean in a holster on your hip all day, I think you would find it uncomfortable very quickly. They do make a similar gun, the Guardian, that you might want to take a look at; .
dstein
Folks...thank you very much! You've solidified my choice. I'll be sure to check out the new carry gun, MaddHatter as well as the Guardian, Warpspeed!
sitw
Glad you nixed the idea. You would have to invest in suspender cause the darn thing would be pulling your pants down with just a belt!
tatertot
Just wanted to add something for everyone's consideration. In the event someone would find themselves in a life threatening situation and would have to use a firearm, said firearm would be confiscated in the investigation. Chances are slim one would ever get the firearm back. You can consider it gone. That is why inexpensive polymer carry guns like the shield are attractively priced. Losing the money I spent on it would be the absolute least of my worries if I really had to use it in a defense situation.
ScottieShootz
That would be a sight to see! I used to carry a DW CBOB stainless and it required a quality holster and belt to help with the weight. I can't even imagine carrying an Edge with 18 rounds, haha......

Descartian
I carry 2011's all this time. That said for iwb, an edge is a bit much. Maybe a winter owb option.
Snowb1rd
I can barely stand my shield or G19 IWB. I couldnt imagine an Edge lol i think you can get a M&P Shield 1.0 for less than $300 nowadays
Wahoo72
I have an edge that I contemplated carrying for about 5 min. I love my edge and it's a reliable pistol, but a G43/Shield to me is much more practical
BLT
Way to big and heavy for sure. STI has some other 2011 options which would be much better.

Gomar83
I have been carrying a Para Black Opps single stack in 45 with a galco mid summer comfort holster for 5 yrs and have had no problems at all. I say carry what’s comfortable and what you can shoot accurately.
