How do you have your Glock sprung?

Glocks are oversprung.  Unless you shooting +p or +p+ a 17lb is just not needed.  You will get less muzzle flip and when your slide returns to battery you will not get muzzle dip.  Ejection should be better.  Most top shooters run with either a 13 or 11 recoil spring for these reasons.

Is it possible to change the recoil spring on the gen4 Glock, or is it necessary to buy an aftermarket rod?

You need an aftermarket guide rod. You can use a jager gen 4 captured guide rod, or a gen 3 rod but you need a guide rod adaptor ring.

I ordered a Lone Wolf Gen4 ss rod and ISMI 13# spring last night

Any idea what the weight/balance difference would create with an MOS + Optic on a Glock 17?  Interested in re-springing to 13lb but would love field data on how well this works on a "heavier" slide more weighted at the rear.  The FF3 weighs 1.5oz.
