PD Optimized Firing Pin initial thoughts

Is there a reason the PD firing pin end that contacts hammer come to a dome/point? I have only a couple thousand rounds with it and there is already a dimple/deformation of the hammer face.

See below response from Johnbu, he's on the money.

Because they copied the profile of the EGD Extreme pin back there, I'd bet.

Actually we tested several different designs, having a flat contact area created "mushrooming". This causes issues passing in and out of the stop plate. We settled on the dome shape just like the Xtreme Pin because it's a superior design.

Variable hardness of the hammer is my thought.  the "dome" end allows it to glide in and out of the keeper  (that end plate)  with less friction.

Your absolutely correct John, would you like a consulting job with us :)

Only if he can get paid in 9mm Limited Pros. Those things are worth their weight in gold.

(Yes, this weak-sauce running joke is absolutely going to turn into a thing.)

I already HAVE a 9mm Lim Pro.   Well,  My son has adopted it so it probably is his now.  Left hand mag release and all.

Not gonna lie,  wish I still had my Lim Pro!

Nearly everyone that has run the LP and S2 side by side prefers the LP.

(Except me, but I'm goofy! At least i didn't decide to go plastic.  lol)

Or sell a fully set up Lim Pro, to go back to CZ, then go back to Glock.

...and now you're popping back up in the Tanfo forum wanting one.

That would really be an expensive series of events, right @B_RAD?

Guys,  I ain't got no sense!

Yeah, it's been a revolving door of guns I'm shooting. I'm shooting cz this weekend at a local, then following two weekends for OK State IDPA and AR USPSA sectional.

I like the CZ but wish it had the longer grip, front to back, of the Tanfo.

I just chalk it up to still being fairly new to these games. So, I'm trying everything a couple of times to see what I like best.

Might even give the Shadow 2 another try. Unless I find a Lim Pro first. It'd be nice to shoot the same gun in idpa and uspsa.

Anyone got one?

John, is that because of the longer sight radius or is it a balance issue?

Both.  The longer radius also makes it balance different.  Not much different, but a bit different.

Accuracy and point-ability is, imho, identical between them.

I've been using the PD firing pin/spring combo for about 3000 trouble free rounds but I did notice some drag marks on the primers today.  It did this with both 9 & 10lb recoil springs. I know it's common in some guns so I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not.  Just as a test I threw the stock pin/spring and the problem went away.

Played with a Shadow 2 a few weeks ago. It felt as good as my SIII. Similar balance, similar trigger. Haven't come across a Limited Pro to compare to either.
