cardguy
A friend of mine wants me to load sub sonic rounds for his 308 Win semi auto rifle. I"ve never done any sub sonic, what do I do to produce quality ammo for him.
TonytheTiger
Does he want the rifle to function? Or is he fine with a single shot?

dauntedfuture
I don't think that will happen.
Hi-Power Jack
Your only chance would be a Very Heavy bullet ... Not sure you can get a bullet heavy enough, though.

cardguy
I now need advice for his Bolt action rifle too. A video I saw showed Trail Boss powder, etc.

What does he want to do with the load? You can go with a real light (110 or 125 gr) bullet, real slow and it should work fine - be real easy on recoil, also. cardguy
I'll ask him today. It's a sniper rifle setup as he was on the team. I'd assume it would be 168 grain bullets but I'll know later today when he buys the components.
dauntedfuture
Trail boss in .308 works well because you don't have to do anything special to the cases. I have used TB with SS 150g plated bullets and 220g jacketed bullets with good success. If you want to shoot heavy bullets SS, your going to need a 1-10" barrel. 1time
Trailboss works great but 220SMK were not stable in my 16" 1/10 twist barrel. DTA uses a 1/8 for there 308 to stabilize heavy subs.
