niroth81
I'm looking at getting popple holes put in my gun. I know the barrel won't be an issue, but the slide is hard chromed. When the slide is milled the wall of the holes (between the top and bottom surface of the slide) will have no coating on it. 1: how thick is a hard chrome finish? 2: will the gases through the popple holes exit the slide, are they likely to cause issues where the hard chrome ends and the steel starts? I know I can re finish the slide, but is there a need to?
theWacoKid
Shouldn't cause any real issues even if the plating does want to come up around the hole/slot. I run a gun that has an ionbonded slide I cut up and haven't refinished yet. Keep the raw steel oiled so it doesn't corrode then refinish it down the line whenever.
