The championship series will run from March to November 2017, and will feature the best shooters from around the state and surrounding regions competing in several separate, standalone, level two USPSA State/Section Championship matches to crown state champions in each respective division. New to the Mississippi State/Section Championship for 2017 will be the inaugural USPSA sanctioned PCC, Two-Gun, CQB, and 3-gun state championships. Also new will be online registration and payment. In addition to the MS section championships, BPSA is also proud to announce that we are bringing back for 2017 the wildly popular 2nd annual Mississippi State NSSF Rimfire Challenge and the 2nd annual Mixed Discipline World Championships. Each match will have its own distinct flavor and will present a variety of challenging options for competitors from around the state and area, as well as being both affordable and rewarding for everyone that participates. It's going to be a very busy and exciting year at BPSA, and we look forward to running these matches with the same commitment to excellence as we have displayed throughout the past year. ede
Shooting on Sunday is hard to manage without taking Monday off. Easier to leave work early on Friday than miss Monday. I'd like to make the revolver, NSSF and Mixed matches but I never know about work so it's always a crap shoot registering. Will see as we get closer to the match. For the USPSA matches are you going to use the same stages for each date? Edited November 20, 2016 by ede

Bigsampson
Just a general question? If it is a two gun match, why not have stages that utilize both guns rather than 5 stages of pistol and 5 stages w rifle?

That's one way to do it, for sure, and that's how we've done our previous two gun and how we are going to do our 3-gun state match in November, with stages that utilize two and sometimes three guns. For this match, we decided to do it a little different and we'll see how it works.

Not sure how we accrue points? Your time for each stage is your raw time plus any penalties accrued. Penalties are 5 seconds for failure to neutralize, 10 seconds for no hits on paper, and 15 seconds for fail to engage. Targets are neutralized with either 1 hit in the A/B zone, or 2 hits anywhere. The lowest time on each stage, in each division, will receive 100 points. Second place and below will earn points on a percentage basis of 1st place. Total stage points accumulated for all stages determines match placement. For example: You shoot stage clean in 20 seconds. I shoot stage in 22 seconds with one fail to neutralize (FTN) with a single hit only in the C zone on one of the targets. Your total stage time is 20 seconds, mine is 27 (22 plus 5 second penalty). You win the stage and receive 100 stage points. I get 74% of you and 74 stage points. (20 divided by 27)

chbrow10
I'm told that the Mississippi Classic will go off as scheduled, but I am not close to that club. I would encourage you to reach out to that specific USPSA club, MS06, for information on that match, which is held near Byram, Mississippi. The OP's match announcements are for matches held by another club, MS16, near Biloxi, Mississippi, and would be in addition to the Mississippi Classic. This year, the Biloxi club is hosting the Mississippi Section Championship.
