ny700
So I usually run round nose 115 and 124s. Decided to load up some xtp's and the slide isn't wanting to go into batttery then it's nearly impossible to rack. I actually had to field strip it to get the live round out. I've loaded thousands of rounds with various fmjs never an issueIs this an OAL issueI'm able to run the round nose rather long like 1.130 - 1.140With the xtps I ran 1.08 -1.110Thoughts?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Garmil
Did you plunk test the 147 rounds? Edited October 25, 2016 by Garmil
GrumpyOne
It is an OAL issue. The shoulder (ogive) of the bullet is longer, so it hits the rifling and gets stuck. I load 147 PD FMJ's out to 1.150 in my SP01, yet can only load MG 124 JHP's to 1.085.
SCTaylor
They done said it. 1.135" 147 bayou's fit my CZ but 125 BBI's can only go 1.10".
dons
In addition to an OAL problem, sometimes the case may be bulged by the base of the bullet and cause this type of a jam. Your 147 gr bullets are seated deeper in the tapered 9mm case than 115s or 124s. Some brands of cases may be worse than others, I had this happen in a new Barsto barrel in my 9mm Kimber. after narjung the cases I found some of the jams are caused by the bulge at the base of the bullet. I was using some 135 gr bullets of unknown origin (I've had them for years). They work fine in my 3 other 9mms.
