brisix
Started to dry-fire with my Scorpion to get ready to for next season shooting PCC. One thing I noticed is I needed to down load to 26/25 rounds to be able to reliably speed reload. Anything above that it was hit or miss if the mag would lock into place. Wanted to see if anyone was running into the same thing. My mags are brand new. Link to comment
Alaskapopo
I don't have a Scorpion but I down load all my reload mags on carbines and pistols to make reloading easier. You should not need a full reload stick anyway in USPSA with 32 round max courses. Link to comment
Odessa Straight
I have the same issue with the full 32 rounds in Colt type magazines. I learned to use a downloaded mag for a reload when a fully loaded mag didn't seat and ended up in the dirt giving me a terrible time for one of my first classifiers in PCC. Link to comment
AKCrew
I'm loading 27rds into my Scorpion mags. If you haven't upgraded the mag release yet you should. I have the Yetiwurks release and it's night and day compared to the factory piece. Link to comment
Steve Moneypenny
If you add extended base pads such as those from springer precision you won't have to download. 40 round mags are nice... and you then rarely have to reload. but if you do you can still reload to over 30 reliably. Link to comment
Ten-X
Does springer have base pads for scorpion. Just checked their websites and didn't see them. Link? Link to comment
AKCrew
Ten-X I didn't see them either. I know Yeti Wurks has a +3 base plate, and he is working on a +10. He makes some great stuff, from what I have seen. His mag release is a work of art. Link to comment
brisix
I have ordered the Yeti Wurks +3 base plate and mag release. The OEM mag release is just a bit to far for my trigger finger to activate reliable under stress. I received the email below from Springer Precision on mag extension for the Scorpion. "It is still in the design stage and unfortunately we don't have a set ETA nor final capacity details for it at this time. Thank you very much for the interest Brian! AKCrew
brisix you'll love that mag release. It's a much shorter reach to drop the mag. And the paddle gives you a lot of real estate to hit when grabbing your mags. It's the second best mod after the Gear Head Works reverse safety lever. Link to comment

I ran into the same problem until I moved it. Good idea. I just ordered a Switchback grip for Yeti Works and was going to adjust it to see if it made hitting the mag release faster and easier. The big weakness for me with PCC is the reload, 1.71-2.00 seconds. Probably not a big killer in a match but I will need to get that close 1.0 sec to get a GM card. Link to comment
rowdyb
i can seat 30's on a closed bolt, but it is a hard slam. Link to comment
