9mm major sti trubor problems

Recommended Posts

Just got my STI Trubor and started loading this week and shot some today  as I shot about 100 rounds this week looking for a load and worked up to 7.4 grains of power pistol with a 124 gr hornaday fmj bullet seated out to 1.155. As I was practicing today with my new gun it locked back and the slide was stuck but not too tight but the guide Rod was snug to the compensator. Has anyone had this problem or know if I have too much powder or what would cause this? Any input is very appreciatited

It's a new gun so the slide to frame fit should be tight. Too much powder would not cause the problem you are having.

My 2011 open gun would lock back prematurely until I put a detent in the slide stop lever with the appropriate sized drill bit, now it only locks back when I push the slide lock up with my thumb.

As far as your guide rod being flush with the comp with the slide all the way back, that is not normal and you may have a problem with the end of the rod slipping off of the bottom barrel lug, that would jam the gun up.

Doubt you'll get to Major at 6.7 - might be close, though.

With the new stuff, I bet you will. With 124's I was 173 pf with 6.8 gr in a gun with 3 small holes and was 177 pf with 7.0 gr in a gun with no holes.
