9mm major sti trubor problems

Just got my STI Trubor and started loading this week and shot some today  as I shot about 100 rounds this week looking for a load and worked up to 7.4 grains of power pistol with a 124 gr hornaday fmj bullet seated out to 1.155. As I was practicing today with my new gun it locked back and the slide was stuck but not too tight but the guide Rod was snug to the compensator. Has anyone had this problem or know if I have too much powder or what would cause this? Any input is very appreciatited

Mine did the same thing, once it cooled down it was fine, another 20 shots and the slide stuck 3/4 of the way back. Now I have over 1K through it, that problem has gone away. (It's not broken it yet, shoot some more with lots of lube):D

1270 and no pressure signs

Oke so you need to put in more powder , but i would load them longer 1.165 or even longer than that .

i load my 9 Majors at 1.185 to reduce pressure so i can use more powder ( i use N350 or HS6 )for more gas to work the comp .

First check if this fits your chamber by plunk test !

I may be wrong, but can't imagine that load is going to be too potent ...

Can't imagine that more powder, or a different powder would help, either..

Just to be straight, you've fired hundreds of these identical rounds thru

this gun, not changed the load or the gun in any way, and one shot caused

the slide to lock back, stuck lightly?

Sounds like it might have been that one round causing all the problems?  Has

it occurred again?

My first OPEN gun was a Dawson Precision TruBor - about 10 years ago.

It fired factory 9mm ammo when the gun was clean and well lubed, and I broke it

in on PF167 loads.

NEVER had the kind of problem you mentioned...

Good luck with it.

p.s.  have you tried changing the recoil spring?   Get a 9-10 lb spring in there

and see what happens.
