Jrb305
I'm thinking of getting a TRR8 for steel challenge, but I would like to stick with 9mm since that's what I mostly reload. Has anyone converted theirs to 9mm?
aandabooks
TK Custom converts 627 cylinders to 9mm. They should be able to do the TRR8 cylinder.
Taroman
Would you then load 9 with .357 bullets? FWIW, I trim .38 Special cases to .850" for my TRR8 Have a 986 that I use for steel challenge now. Occasionally an extra round could come in handy, but, as the slow string is thrown out, it rarely is an issue for me.
Bamboo
I've used 9mm brass in in my 627. I just trimmed the moon clips to fit the 627 cylinder cutout and then loaded the 9mm like 38 short colts with .357-.358 bullets. It was just an experiment and it worked OK, but it wasn't something I saw a lot of advantage to. If I used a bullet like a 9mm montana gold the accuracy wasn't that great. I get much better accuracy with .358 coated bullets. Why don't you give some .38 short colts a try? They load a lot like 9mm.
Jrb305
Well I have around 10k 9mm brass and would just like the ease of only having to reload 9mm. I do currently have a 929 all raced up. I just thought about trying something different with a TRR8.
MWP
You could swap to a lighter barrel on a 929 and make the gun weigh the same as a TRR8, but use all that 9mm brass and clips.
