dalmorloson
I have never shot multigun, but am starting to be interested. I recently built an AR pistol with a 10 1/2 inch barrel and a Shockwave Blade brace. I know that the ATF now says I can't shoulder this gun, but is it legal for the rifle portion of a multigun match? Why or why not?
yellowfin
For something you can't shoulder I'd say you'd be at a disadvantage, particularly at distance. So if even legal you for the most part wouldn't want it. There are guys who do run SBR's at times but with a brake on it (as many do for recoil control) the blast is really, really awful. Flatland Shooter
Per the USPSA Multigun Rules: 5.1.2.1 Handguns with shoulder stocks and/or fore grips of any kind are prohibited. Rifles and Shotguns must be fitted with a stock, enabling it to be fired from the shoulder.
txolds442
We let a guy shoot a local match with an ar pistol and he was at a huge disadvantage. He also had an sjc Titan on the 10.5 barrel, I still can't hear.
cmalin06
Have you considered just swapping the barrel and adding a stock? You want to practice properly and the awkwardness of not shouldering would be a bourden in my eyes
akeefer
I wouldn't suggest that previous post ^^. Once a lower has been mated to a "pistol" upper, it becomes a pistol for life. (Or so my understanding of the ATF is) But yeah, I thought about this too. In the end, not shouldering ended up being a pain in the butt, not to mention the urge to try to shoulder it anyway, which is bad! =P
