turtleguy
Why doesn't the grip safety on a 1911/2011 count like the the trigger safety on most sticker fired guns
36873687
They don't count to me, I disengage or pin it first thing
turtleguy
My brother got a dq today with a 2011 that the hammer fought the half cock cock notch when he dumped it and couldn't put the Manuel safety on. I was wonder why the functional grip safety doesn't count. FN rules.
Dr Mitch
Grip safety blocks the trigger. The thumb safety blocks the sear. Gun could possibly fire if jarred without thumb safety on.

AFH
They do count, if functional, at the BRM3G when abandoned.
wgj3
Thanks for that info, Andy. I wasn't aware of a ruleset that allowed just an active grip safety when dumping a gun. Any others that allow it?
AFH
I can't remember which, but I know 1 or 2 other matches have allowed it.
Boxer1
Grip safety only on 1911/2011 is asking for trouble. I only stops rear trigger movement and nothing for sear movement. I believe the USPSA rules say primary safety or something to that effect. Grip safety on these is definitely a secondary safety not stand alone.
