Shooter94
I am thinking about buying a STI Trubor and have a few questions. It's my first open gun. Is this gun the right choice for the money? How do you "Fit" a magazine? Any upgrades that are a good start and is 9mm major the right choice of caliber?
Sarge
9mm for sure. With a stock trubore stock mags should run ok. Mags are "tuned"(not fitted) to gain more capacity and reliability
blacklab
You might want to look at a used open gun. You can find some good package deals on here and most of the bugs are already worked out on the used ones.
jcc7x7
I've owned a bunch of TB's, they've all run well with sti mags and any good set of guts and bases
Hi-Power Jack
I have owned 2 9mm TruBor's for past decade - super gun - lots of fun - very accurate (see 50 yard group). Very personal, but the ONLY change I truly value is the slide racker - saves your hands from being cut during fast racks, and keeps the gun off the table for table starts - and is a Very Fast way to rack the gun, when necessary. 9mm, all the way. mike cyrwus
You're a lucky guy. I just happen to have a very low mileage one. Pm me if you're interested and I'll fill you in

Hi-Power Jack
The TruBor should be perfect for you, then. The only disadvantage I've seen with the TruBor is you can't get one of those really light trigger pulls - but mine is set at around 3.5 lbs and just right for me
mike cyrwus
There's nothing inherently different between a trubors trigger and any other 2011 Sti trigger. The one I mentioned up there^ pulls a crisp 2.75# and I'm sure it could be taken down more.
Hi-Power Jack
Mike, you might be correct about the trigger, but I've been told that to reduce a TruBor's trigger that light, you'd have to replace parts.

Hi-Power Jack
Did the stock parts maintain a 2 lb pull for a lengthy period of time?
Aircooled6racer
Hello: I did one and it is still going after 20,000 rounds. Just changed out the mainspring to a ISMI 17lb one and a little stoning to clean up the surfaces. Thanks, Eric
Hi-Power Jack
Thanks, Eric - good to know. That contradicts what I heard - but I believe you.
Janskis
I chose the matchmaster over the trubor as my first pistol and I've liked it a lot so far. I shot my first year of competing with a friend's trubor but I always thought of it as too heavy and sluggish. The matchmaster is quite the opposite, happens to fit my hand like a glove. Sure, it recoils a bit more but with factory ammo (no reloading equipment yet) the MM beats the Trubor hands down. Not sure how it compares on major ammo, can't compare properly since my friend made a custom grip to his pistol a while ago. Doesn't fit me at all so I can't give a proper opinion on it. Here you can see my MM @ 480fps running S&B bulk Edited August 15, 2016 by Janskis

Stock parts will last just fine. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them. Sub-2 lb pull is no problem on stock sti fire control parts.
cecil
might check out a STI DVC for not much difference you get a lot of extra goodies...
MHitchcock
If you are going to spring for the dvc you may as well spend a bit more and get the ck...
alucardus
I run a Match Master in 9 major and really like it. As far as magazines go the stock mags will run just fine but if you want am upgrade and some more rounds look into the MBX mags. I haven't had one feeding issue with them and I can get 29 rounds plus a barney with the MBX's. The only issue I've found with them is they don't like shorter factory length rounds, which a none issue for me since my major rounds are a bit longer. So if you'll be shooting factory ammo they might not be the right choice.
Absocold
If you buy a used Trubore, make sure you get one with the new three port comp (T2) as the old two port comp (T1) doesn't work as well. And upgrading from T1 to T2 is expensive as the comp and barrel are all one piece.

I have a < 1,5 lb pull in my gun with stock STI parts holds up for more than 30000 rounds at this moment . if a trigger job does not hold for a long period of time its mostly not due to the used parts but to who did the trigger job .
