RangerTrace
5 grains loaded to 1.20 should be about right for coated bullets. My load is 5.4 grains under a 180 grain Zero TMJ, to 1.20.
peterthefish
I use 4.9 GR under a 180 SNS at 1.170. Makes 173 out of a 5" barrel. Probably do a ladder from 4.8-5.2, and figure out OAL from 1.165 - 1.120 for what passes plunk and feeds the best.
Jmo2011
I settled on 5.1 n320 at 1.190 with a Precision Delta 180 fmj.

ltdmstr
All my 5 inch guns with Nowlin and Bar-Sto barrels get to 168+ PF at 5.4 grains. My 5.4 limited gun with AET barrel needs about 5.7 or 5.8 to get there.
Blammo
4.8 grains of N320 at 1.185" gets me 169 PF in my 5.4 AET. I am using Blue Bullets and probably should be at 4.9-5.0 to safely make major. I was told to use 310 and that will be where I put more time in chronographing.

Is them being coated what makes it require more?

There would be no need for me to even go over 5 grains to make major, but ymmv.
400driver
4.8 of N320 with a Bayou 180 GN works well in my SVI 5 inch sight tracker. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk

hotrodder
5.2 of N320 at 1.215 makes 172pf with MG 180HP in both of my 5 inch SV's.
Kletus
4.6 grains of N320 got me an avg of 168 pf with 180 gr. Blue Bullets. Loaded to 1.185" That is out of my 5.5" Freedom. Im guessing 4.7 to 4.8 will work for you depending on how much room you want between you and the power floor.
pjb45
4.5-4.8 grs VV320 Nowlin Barrell, 1.18, SV, Dillon 1050. MG or Zero 200gr Use the same load for my two SS also. Very soft. Never a problem at the Desert Classic or WSSSC. I have about 10 years worth of Chrono sheets. Shorten the OAL and you can reduce the amount of powder.
