I just loaded my first three test loads @ 3.2, 3.5 & 3.8. The 3.8 looked awfully full. I only loaded ten each to get an idea for function before I start tweaking for pf and accuracy. IDescribe Posted September 1, 2016 Share Posted September 1, 2016 The 9mm case I just checked holds 6.7gr of Prima V filled all the way to the case mouth. 4.4gr rose to ~.210 below the case mouth. The seating depth of that .356 PD RN at OAL 1.160 is .193, so at that OAL with that bullet at that charge weight, I could seat about .015 deeper, down to 1.145, before some people would start calling it compressed. My initial chrono showed the Prima V took .1 grain less than Titegroup for the same power factor with 147's. it is a high volume power for sure. No way to double charge. BASE772 Posted September 30, 2016 Share Posted September 30, 2016 3.4 gr Prima V under a 147 xtreme @ 1.135 average 891 fps out of a P226 with 4.9" threaded barrel. Very nice recoil impulse. Not as snappy as Titegroup but not mushy either. Reminds me of a .45 recoil. When im finished loading the xtreme's I'll load up some SNS 147 FP's. ArrDave Posted October 14, 2016 Share Posted October 14, 2016 Just throwing out data points. I loaded up some rounds to test with the Acme 124 RN's. Loaded to 1.055 shot at an indoor range, mixed brass, and 3.5 grains. Out of my practice Shadow with a high round count I was getting 985. With my match Shadow I was getting 1004-1011 FPS. ES was like 9 out of my match gun over 5 rounds - not a huge sample - but promising. I was surprised to not be closer to iDescribe's data. I'm probably going to goose it up .2 grains and try again. Chrono'd with a MagnetoSpeed V3, so basically at the muzzle, these likely wouldn't make PF with a typical 10' chrono. I was so surprised to see my shorter cartridges go slower so i saved a round to pull and re-weigh the charge. I'll update this thread with my findings. I got brave and loaded up 100 rounds to test fire at that load. The powder burned pretty clean, very little carbon/soot left in the case. Recoil impulse is very nice. Accuracy seemed fine, though I'm no great group shooter. The load was less smoky than WSF and Titegroup. Overall really digging this powder. The powder has inconsistent size, I get fine granules in some throws and larger ones the next. Maybe I should agitate the powder hopper to settle them powder.
