Alaskan454
Last week I was messing with the trigger pull on one of my GP100s to see how light it could reliably set off Remington primers. To my surprise it ran 160 rounds at 6 1/4 lbs DA and only had one light strike. After inspecting the offending case it looks like I barely seated the primer and it went bang the second time. Aside from polishing the internals and swapping springs all the parts are stock. How light can you go with Federal primers and some weight reduction on the hammer? No.343
I don't know the weight of the trigger on my GP-100s, but they feel good to me. I would not accept one failure in 160 rounds. That extra reload can make a lot of difference in the final results.
Alaskan454
I've tested a few hundred more in this gun without issue, I believe it will stay as is. No need to go any lighter.
8ring
I put in a 10 lb mainspring and it fired all my reloads with Federal primers. I will put in a lighter trigger return spring and see if that helps. How light a mainspring are you using?
Alaskan454
I was running a 9lb mainspring and 8lb return spring. I wouldn't go too much lower on either but there's room if needed.
