CAB33
Light strikes, what's the cure or most common issue causing them? This is proven ammo and I get 2-3 light strikes in every 100 rounds.
Domineaux
Is your gun stock? If not, what modifications have you made? Have you checked the striker channel and channel liner for any build up of lube or debris?
CAB33
I bought it used, so unsure what's in it. I did put a stock recoil spring in it and it did not help.
Domineaux
If trigger is stock, I'd start with the striker, striker spring, channel and liner. If it is running an Apex trigger it might be that the striker spring was replaced with a lighter one.
CAB33
It does not have the Apex, but someone has done trigger work to it.
MarkCO
Worn out striker spring likely is your problem.
CAB33
Is the stock striker spring the way to go? Who stock M&P parts/springs?
High Lord Gomer
I prefer to run the extra power striker springs in all of mine. http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_90_116&products_id=1022 Oops, looks like they are out of stock. Sarge
When I tried a pro for about a year I found it too finicky when mods were done. Somebody probably did something to lighten the trigger up and you get to figure it all out.
GOF
I'd look at the striker spring & channel. I had the same issue with a 9mm M&P... but only after about 25K rounds. Replacing the striker block assembly fixed it. Those things do wear out.
Bkreutz
Another common cause for light strikes is improper striker block timing. This usually happens when people start messing with their trigger (and don't know what they're doing). Apex has a video that explains how to adjust the striker block timing, and it works on any trigger bar, not just those with an Apex sear or trigger) What happens is the striker block doesn't completely clear the striker and it slows the striker down enough to get light strikes.I just set the gap on mine to 0.018" and they work 100% (but that's in my gun, yours may be different)
MemphisMechanic
What Bkreutz said! Replace the striker spring with a factory or extra-power one and check the timing. That's almost certainly the problem.
CAB33
That was it, new striker spring! Just ran 300 rounds without any issues.
brownnutz
W That was it, new striker spring! Just ran 300 rounds without any issues. Which striker spring did you end up getting CAB? I have run 1400ish rounds thru my 5" Pro 9 after installing the ACEK and have had a total of 4 light strikes...2 last night at a local match. I just ended up putting the OE striker spring back on and am hoping to get some trigger time before the next match on Tuesday. If this doesn't work, I don't know what I'm gonna do. CAB33
I think it was the stock spring, about 2,000 rounds without any issues.
brownnutz
I think it was the stock spring, about 2,000 rounds without any issues. Good to hear!! Glad I kept all my stock parts. Hopefully this resolves my issue as well.
