SiG Lady Posted January 16, 2016 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) The owner of our local indoor range (The Baron's Den), Walt Umenhofer, passed away January 11, 2016. He and his wonderful wife not only ran a top-notch, fun place to shoot (as well as a classy retail shop), but brought a lot of dignity to the shooting sport and treated women with incredible respect. It was the place where I won my trophies, took my two CHL prep classes, and made incredible friends (and bought guns!). I don't see any change in the running of the range (I doubt it will ever close), as Mrs. Gayle Umenhofer was a key part of the total operation, but Walt spent a lot of time with us several times a week, and was the source of both wisdom and entertainment. I'll never forget what he said to me when I took my first CHL class and purchased a range membership: "I think you'll like it here!" He could not have been more correct or spot-on. Bless his heart.
