TOPshooter
I need to get dies and a shell plate to load 38 SC. I plan to get the EGW U dies for sizing and not sure what to use for seat and crimp? Also I have seem different ideas on what to use for the shell plate for a Dillon 650? I have a few powders to test what loads I like, personal feel type testing. I just need to work out some loads for major. Thanks, Dave
Philip Dedmon
I use the Redding Competition Seating Die and a Dillon Taper Crimp Die. The Dillon Shell Plate is a #
LilBunniFuFu
U-die for sizing, Dillon for seating, Dillon crimp and a FCD with the crimp turned all the way out so it just catches any gross sizing issues.
hvsmith
Redding Competition Seating Die & Micrometer Adjustable Crimp Die.
TOPshooter
I like the adjustment from the micrometer. I use Lee seating and crimp dies for my 40 & 9, which is nice when switching head profiles to make a quick turn to keep OAL.
TOPshooter
I did not know the Dillon she'll plates where numbered. I will have to look that up
TOPshooter
Thanks for the ideas so far. Seems on track for what I was hoping. Did not want yo mess up with the 38sc
BeerBaron
Do you already have a 9mm or 38 super setup? The reason I ask is I load super comp using the 9mm shell plate and buttons. Small caveat: when I first tried it I had a couple of cases shoot out of the shell plate while being primed. I later tried again and it hasn't happened since in a few thousand rounds. It seems there is a tolerance in shell plates. Some can load sc on the 9mm plate and some can't.
