SV mags on STI frame

From my searching it is a matter of removing material on the bottom of the frame. I was not able to find a picture anywhere of where. Anybody have a pic of where to remove to make the SV mag work? Thanks

I'll try to get it for you over the weekend. I use a 10 degree angle cutter. It can be done with a Dremel as well. Not much material needs to be removed.

Here's a stock frame and one that has been modified to take new SV magazines. It only takes a small bit of material to be removed. I use a 10 degree cutter and take about .020" - .025" from each side.

The macro lens has very small depth of field, that's why the photos have small areas of focus.

So you are beveling all the way around the inside of the frame?

It's not needed to bevel more than just the sides.

That's all that's needed. The new SVI mags are wider in the front than STI. Probably only have to go halfway back from the front edge.

Thanks for starting this thread and thanks for the pics! All the other threads just say "well you need to trim on the frame and they'll work." Sure is nice to have a visual reference finally.

I happen to have a frame apart when the question was posted.

This mod works, and you don't have to mess around with the notch in the mag, which may work, but, not as easily.

You can use old SV, new SV and STI mags. New SV mags fit in old SV frames with no modifications. The difference is only around .030 in width of the cut in the frame.
