Barricade "Modified"

Recommended Posts

Had a phone conversation with Damien yesterday and he told me that a new Course of Fire will be in the next revision of the Action Pistol Rulebook. He called it Barricade "Modified". The new COF will require the competitor to draw, fire six rounds from strong side barricade, perform a mandatory reload and then shoot six rounds from weak side barricade. Its like the Crawford Barricade except you're shooting six on each side with a reload on the clock. 10 Yds: Draw, fire six -reload- fire six - time limit 13 seconds. 15 Yds: 15 seconds 25 yds: 17 seconds 35 yds: 19 seconds

Does a "prone pad" on a semi auto need to be in place for all matches ?

Tom

Tom,

Rule

9.1 Changing Equipment- The same equipment, including fire-arm, optical or electrical sights, holster and ammunition will be used to fire all matches in the same tournament. Magazines used must be the same capacity, dimension and design in all stages of all matches in the same tournament.

Kinda vague, but I guess it's like robbing banks..........not a problem unless you're caught? There's no equipment check at Bianchi after the original at sign-in, and no way to really compare how the gun looked then as opposed to when you show up to shoot a match.

Back in '98 Ken Tapp was questioned about having different length mag pads. Their thinking was that he used them at the different distances on plates going prone. He just grinned and told them to check them in his gun..........none protruded below the prone pad! :roflol:

BTW, he finished in 2nd overall that year!!:bow:

I shot a Modified Barricade at a Fun Match last year. I shoot a revolver and on the transition at 10 yards (13 seconds), fumbled my reload. I had an extra reloader on my belt but by the time I cleared what rounds had made it in the cylinder and made another reload, it was too late. I think I only got off about 2-3 shots before the target turned. Other than that one mishap, it was an okay event. You finish PDQ. We also shot the Texas Mover that day too. You really have to be moving and thinking on that on for sure! Reload and flip your Stick Shift in 3 seconds gets a little quick.

I didn't think about that. That would be extra tough. I guess you could create an extended magazine pad. Maybe one of the "elite" will complain and get their way about being able to change their pad for that CoF.

Smallbore.

We already have matches with mag changes in the rule book.Combat Event and The Speedload Challenge. Both brilliant events that are not shot often enough.

Alan

Nothing vague about it. Same gun, same mags, same bullets, same holster and yes someone would protest and I bet it wouldn't be the "elite" either. They never watch us.

Same courses of fire, same faces, same dinner, same problems, when will it ever end :eatdrink:

I'm in, would like to see more of the not so well know matches shot. Anyways I like Crawford Barricade and I am betting this will be just as fun??

The main reason we have the open guns we have is that they are specialised to the Bianchi-4. So if we had more of the other matches the handguns would become less specialised or more specialised with even more crud hanging off them.

I am betting on more.

I think mixing up some of the events would be fun and may attract some new shooters and spice things up for some of the 'old' ones. HOWEVER, when I start shooting again next year starting in Feb-Mar at the 2 clubs I attend, everything will be geared toward Bianchi practice. The 'Fun Match' I spoke of earlier was in either August or September of this year. We shot a regular plate event, a Los Alamitos, a Texas Mover and the modified Barricade listed above. It was fun to try some new events and I could see where the mod. barricade and Texas mover would appeal to some of the speed oriented shooters, but my spring will be dedicated to the Bianchi-4 and I don't want to stray from that.
