Anyone worn out an M&P Mag Catch?

I've had an M&P 9mm Pro for about a year now. Probably close to 8,000 rounds through it. Last two matches I've had the magazine drop out when firing. The first time I chalked it up to me not seating it all the way, perhaps. But it happened again within a few days. I have never had this problem before, ever. I number my mags and it was using two different magazines.

I compared my Pro and my other gun, a FS 9mm (which also probably 8,000 or more rounds through it), and the mag catch on the Pro definitely had a bit of looseness in it that the FS did not. When first inserting the mag, the catch would move forward (toward the trigger), a bit before it would begin it's outward motion and then snap in place.

I swapped the parts between the two guns and will give it another go.

Just curious if this is a "common" problem.

Never had a problem, but I replaced mine with an extended metal release from LF Arms and it has worked wonderfully:

Yes - Same here after about 7000 rounds using a Costa Catalyst Extended. The edge of the metal mag catch showed wear and finally the corner tip curled down enough to prevent proper mag seats resulting in misfeeds/jams.

I like the Costa so I just replaced with same. And, I'll anticipate better this go-round. Good luck.

Same problem here, just replaced it with a Springer mag catch. hopefully that will solve the problem.

Similar to my experience - likely due to lots of dry fire mag changes.

YEEEEEEPPPP! My 40 pro mag catch wore out very quickly. Would drop a fully loaded mag (19 rds) from first shot recoil. I simply replaced it with a OEM mag catch.

I'm using the Springer but don't have too much mileage on it yet. Very inexpensive solution though; the factory mag catch is $2.50.
