Shot an introductory Excellence in Competition pistol match this week at Wright Patt AFB (amazing indoor range BTW, thank you taxpayers).

We shot issued M-9s at 25 yards.

10 rounds slow fire, 2 strings of 5 rounds in 2 1/2 minutes each.

10 rounds timed fire, 2 strings of 5 rounds in 20 seconds each.

10 rounds rapid fire, 10 strings of 1 round, all double action, 4 seconds each.

All starting from low ready, target the NRA B-8 bullseye.

Thanks to 88 Security Forces Squadron Combat Arms for taking time out from conducting training and qualifications to make this happen!

Doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but I'm all for any opportunity to shoot and to encourage others to shoot (safely).

Great. How did you make out?

Have you ever tried IDPA or USPSA?

Jack: I was first out of 130 shooters. I'm Master in IDPA and USPSA.

ARG: isn't really mine either, but, -I'd never shot an EIC match before, -it only took a little over an hour total, -it was FREE, -I should be getting 4 Leg points towards Distinguished if I ever decide to go down that road.

Interesting, different than the normal mil EIC matches. Congratulations on the leg points. I'm should be halfway there myself, hopefully I can finish it up next year.

I shot the Excellence in Competition match in the mid 80's, AF, used S&W 38's, sound like the same format I remember(?) I think you had to finish in the top 10% to medal, I received the EIC medal, not many B52 Bombardiers/Navigators wore those! Don't know anything about leg points.
