Major load for CK arms 9mm

If you're new to OPEN, you should wait for the gun to come in.

Meanwhile, ask CK for a recommendation.

I don't suggest the FMJ's - they have an exposed lead base, and

will clog up your compensator unless you have a very good cleaning

regime - I'm lazy, and just use JHP's -no problem.

The HS6 is a great powder -

Check for OAL (The Plunk Test).

Make sure you're not getting any bullet set back.

Start at 7 grains HS6 and work up slowly using your chrono, until

you hit your sweet spots (8+ grains).

Good luck with it. You're in for a LOT of FUN.

I have the hardcore blacked out and my bullet recipe is 124gr MG CMJ, 8.1gr HS-6, 1.160 oal. With the comp and three poople holes I am getting about 173pf.

Thanks! Is there a big difference between CMJ and FMJ regarding reloading?

You will get virtually no smoke with the CMJ's. Some FMJ's have the exposed lead base that will smoke when fired.

CK Thunder Open

115 JHP (PD or MG)

8.5 HS6

1.150

Runs like a top after getting it broken in. Very tight when new. I also switched to a 90 degree mount.

What's your PF with this load?

Consistently right around 172.

8.8 grains of HS-6 with 115 JHP's loaded to 1.170"OAL.

That's how I started out ...

Nice load, feels great, flat shooting ....

BUT, I don't feel comfortable with that much powder being so high

in the case, and the bullet way out to 1.17" (not much grip on the

bullet), so

I switched to WAC - uses about 1 grain less powder - more room

in the case, and I can seat bullets at 1.16" (little more grip on the

bullet).

Hello: I like 8.8 grains of HS-6 with 115 JHP's loaded to 1.170"OAL. Thanks, Eric

This is a great load. I switched from 6.8gr of WAC with MG 124 CMJ @ 1.170" to the same load as Eric's. Only difference is that he uses MG and I use Precision Deltas. Chronos at 173 pf avg out of a 5.4" Schuemann barrel with no holes. Shoots flatter with less dot movement. I didn't notice it being any harsher either.

What's your concerns about this load? The powder doesn't spill and isn't compressed (or very little, if any). The bullet is also seems seated plenty deep enough.

OP - You should at least give some 115's a try. The KKM barrels I've shot were generally a bit faster, so you may want to start around 8.5-8.6 and work your way up.

The load I use for 9 Major is:

8.8 gr of 3n38

1.170 OAL

124 RN Berry

SPM Winchester Primers.

I have a 5.5 Schuemann Barrel, 4 port comp.

This load make 170 PF in my gun.

HS6 is a good powder. I prefer 3n38 because it cleaner and develops more gas to make the comp work better.

Good luck.

I am anxiously awaiting delivery of my Bedell 9mm major pistol. I loaded up some ammo yesterday so I will be ready for the range when it arrives. Have 125 gr Black Bullets, Win small rifle primers & HS-6. I loaded small batches @ 7.4 gr of powder, 7.7 gr of powder & 8.0 gr of powder. All loaded to 1.170" OAL. Got a fresh battery in the Chrony. Can't wait to collect some data & start blasting!

I've used 8.3grn 3N37, 7.5grn N350 and tested some 8.5grn N105 powder running AlsaPro 124grn FMJ bullets.

The 3N37 and N350 has a PF of 178ish and the N105 was at 166PF in a Freedom Gunworks with a Schuemann Barrel

at 1.150" OAL. I do prefer the N350 Powder.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the same comp on Scheumann AET barrel, no ports.

8.1g HS6

121g MG IFP

1.170

Fed SRP

170pf

Very accurate and not harsh on the hands

Good luck. Start from 7.5g and work your way up, especially if you're using a 124/125g projectile.
