Technical: Installing safety problem

This is my first 1911 and I'm building up a Springfield loaded for single stack. I put in a new Cylinder and Slide trigger kit and not the safety won't go in the last 1/8th of an inch. It gets past the plunger and about half way in from there. I'm trying to install a wilson extended safety, but the factory one wont go in either. I was wondering if the new trigger kit (Warp speed kit: Sear, disconnecter and hammer) might somehow be interfering to keep it from going in. I've had trouble getting it in before with the factory parts so I may just be incompetent. Not ruling that out yet. Any tips to make it fit properly or any ideas what the problem may be?

I see that it needs to be fitted to the sear etc. but does anyone have any tips on how to best do this?

Any help is much appreciated

If I understand you correctly, you're trying to re-fit the thumb safety after installing the trigger kit? The thumb safety is fitted to the sear, usually new thumb safeties are over-sized so they require fitting. If your OEM safety was a little snug, it might just need to be relieved.

The Cylinder & Slide kit (at least mine) come with good instructions for fitting the safety. In case you don't have those, here's a link to some others:http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/0601.htm, http://www.ktgunsmith.com/1911ts.htm, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd5m-Adc97o

BE CAREFUL. Going too far with the filing with trash the safety.
