ARE SVI MAGS COMPATIBLE W/ STI W/ POLY GRIPS ?

Hi...............does anyone have the answer from a "higher authority" so to speak if the NEW MODEL of SVI MAGS are compatible with STI W/ POLY GRIPS ??

NOT LOOKING FOR GUESSES! As the CONSENSUS ANSWER WILL COST ME OUT OF POCKET.

The answer is in two parts.

Part one. The mags fit the grip and magazine catch, and do not need to be modified.

Part two, The magazines interfere with the cut in the bottom of the frame as SVI frames are cut about .030 wider in this area. A bevel can be done with the ever popular Dremel tool, of better yet a milling machine. I use a 10 degree cutter to perform the modification.

New magazines will fit old SVI frames which use the same plastic grip as an STI.

No reason they shouldn't. The difference is in the frame, not the grip.

my customized open sti accepts both sti and new svi magazines, the gunsmith has to shave some metal from the frame to accommodate svi magazines and we have to try 12 svi magazines for us to find 3 that falls free. as we have measured it from a caliper, it has different thickness. must be the reason why 9 out of 12 wont dropped free.
