tnorman
I'm in the process of my first build. I was looking at the seekins gas block. I googled reviews and couldn't find any. Seems like a good deal for 50 bucks. Does anyone have any input on it?
P.E. Kelley
It does what it is supposed to. It is adjustable. The gas adjustment screw has a set screw lock. It is low profile. It is melonite coated.
NisilS14
Works like a adjustable gas block. I'm running one, only gripe is gas adjustment faces the side toward the back of the block, can be a little interesting adjusting it with a handguard in the way. Longshot83
I have one as well. I like it except the location of the adjustment screw. I would still buy it again.
tnorman
I picked one up. The instructions are very vague. How many turns from closed should I start out at?
NisilS14
Think in quarter turns. Start out with 1 complete rotation out (4 quarter turns), load one round, and shoot. If it doesn't lock back on the bolt catch, continue adjusting in increments of 1 quarter turn until it locks back. Load 2-3 rounds to check rifle function, and done. hrdstmax
I run one on my rifle.... Works great with the same complaint as everyone else... I think I started with 1/2 turn and ended with 1.5 turns from closed
tnorman
Thanks again guys. I just need to pick up my barrel, bolt and hand guard to finish. I will hopefully have it done before Halloween.
Shaky
Just installed one with a new Criterion 18" barrel and a new JP Low Mass BCG. Easy to install and works great. I shot my first match with it on Saturday and everything worked perfect. No malfunctions of any kind. I am running Atlanta Arms and Ammo reman. 60 Gr. VMAX. I have the same gripe as everyone else... If the set screw were facing forward, I could adjust and set the gas without having to take off the hand guard. As it is, it takes some time. -Shaky
Paul-the new guy
This isn't a seekins block but this is how I dealt with being able to adjust it on a JP
Stlhead
I don't mind the adjustment screw on the hand guard side. Since the adjustment screw is firmly locked in place it does not move, so no need to get at it. Having the adjustment screw on the gas tube outlet side of the block makes this block a simple and durable unit, I will deal with the hand guard removal to gain such elegance. Paul-the new guy
Ok, so I got one before I relaized that the set screw to lock it is on the back of the block... No way to really deal with this except adjust the gas with the handguard removed...
assaulter
I'm thinking of using this on my next build. Any reliability issues in the past couple years?
