Sandbagger123
i was thinking of getting one for my full dustcover StI. Then i noticed the lack of space to depress the latch. So do they work on a full dust cover gun?
chuckstur
Yes. I was a skeptic until I disassembled my son's gun. Those things are great.
Nugget
It's the first thing I buy when I get a new 2011. Super easy for breakdown and spring changes. It works fine with full length dust covers. Edited August 6, 2014 by Nugget
silver star
I love them. When you order remember there is a different one for bushing barrel and bull barrel. Mine are all Government length. I don't know if there are other lengths. Edited August 6, 2014 by silver star
Braxton1
On a LDC gun, it only changes the order of disassembly a little bit.... Whereas on an SDC gun, you could just lock the slide back with the Slide Stop and then engage the Dawson Guide Rod, you can't do that on an LDC. You must first pop the top end off of the gun, then push the guide rod forward to engage the Dawson. Most people disassemble a 1911/2011 that way already, so it's not a big deal. The Tool-Less is still a nifty device on either style gun. Edited August 9, 2014 by Braxton1
Yeti
Great product & convenient to use. Like Braxton mentioned, pull slide stop...remove slide (intact)...depress guide rod...engage DP catch. You will thank yourself every time you disassemble. The only negative is the slim chance of the retention pin working loose or spring loaded arm becomes damaged and locks up the gun. kcd19
instead of taking the entire slide assembly off, i am able to engage the stop on the tool-less guide rod with a small screwdriver.. disassemble as normal.
GSonnen
i was thinking of getting one for my full dustcover StI. Then i noticed the lack of space to depress the latch. So do they work on a full dust cover gun? I have a Tactical 5.0 with full dust cover. The Tool-less rod works fine in mine. Makes disassembly quick and easy. Now, THAT's cheating.....

CMonty
The tool less GR is very handy and definitely worth the extra $ imo.
bountyhunter
Slick invention. When I saw it I said that is a great idea.
andy27al
Works great and is much more sane than disassembling a $3000 pistol with a paper clip in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nmbpman
I have one on my Edge and it is so much easier to disassemble compared the the recoilmaster. It isn't as easy to do on a full dust covered gun but it is better, nothing special required to push the holding mechanism down.
gng4life
I have it on all my guns, make sure to get the bull or cone model for your pistol.
