stinsonbeach
Remember being in the service & you were issued a new - or old for that matter - piece & it was covered w/ gunk? Cremoline...that terms bubbles up from the recesses, but have no idea if it is correct. Anywayzzz, just got some Yugo lock-back AK mags covered in the stuff. Question: - how do I get it off? ...inside & out! Thank you, -jb
Steve RA
Think "Cosmoline" is what was used. Strangely enough, "Gunk" - engine cleaner - will remove it. Apply, let sit for a few minutes and then rinse off. Here is a video - doesn't use what I suggested but either will work.
stinsonbeach
"Steve RA"- Thanks for the vid. Watched it & it seems like the easiest. ...& yeah, "cosmoline" - I knew it was something like that, but still not bad for 46 years ago! -jb

Chris1522
I boiled all my Yugo SKS internals and used brake cleaner on the barreled action. Worked great.
Potato Chips
Heat or simple green work as well. Had a wooden stock, left it out in the sun, dripped away.
