Know your terrain for a match and wear proper shoes.......

Last match some guys were slipping and sliding as they transitioned around the course.... Not sure if it was the shoes or the individual but I always have pair of low top hiking boots in car for matches just in case - usually I wear indoor soccer shoes that have me flat footed and great traction....

In the southwest trends are some sort of softball cleat or some are now using high end rock climbing shoes. Ground here is usually some sort of decomposed rock or dirt and gravel.

In the Northwest we are often on grass, which for most months is wet. Waterproofing is a must! Even on hard-packed dirty gravel, the rain makes it at least moist. Thus, waterproofing is often even more important here than traction.
