Ssanders224
Notice anything wrong with this full length Guiderod? I started to oil my gun yesterday after the first day of the TN section match, and found my guide rod like this. No idea at what point of the day it actually broke... And gun seemed to cycle fine with the broken rod... Seriously tired of stuff breaking. In the last year, I've broken an EGW sear, two rear sights ( a Bo mar & Dawson) cracked a slide, and now broken a guide rod. I baby my guns more than anyone I know. Jediwarrior
Is that a tungsten guide rod? If so, the hole should not be a thru hole. Hole should be half way thru.

Jediwarrior
Wow! I've never seen a stainless guide rod break before. I suggest an Ed Brown GR and drill a 1/16" blind hole from the bottom as replacement.
Anthony Lombardo
use a GI style rod. Will never break..
Ssanders224
use a GI style rod. Will never break.. Thanks for the advice... And your probably right... But, how many people do you know running GI guide rods in 2011 Limited guns???
Seth
Looks like it broke at the threads? If so, it may be that it's getting battered when the slide comes back. If the head isn't square to the frame, it'll cant.

Seth
Same thought process in my head. Guide rod isn't square to frame and is canting.
Jediwarrior
With a GI guide, the Edge would look funky with a hole in the reverse plug. Besides, I would want extra weight up front.

Yep. The gun definitely feels lighter in the nose when you handle it. Just going to replace with a new full length, but only going to drill takedown hole halfway through.
