waynewal
Experimenting with Hodgdon Titegroup, a Glock 34, Montan Gold JHP. Running 4.1 grains with an OAL of 1.10". Getting an occasional failure to eject. Haas been suggested to me to shorten up the 124 gr MG OAL to 1.00" Seems a bit short compared to other loading data. Has anyone worked with an ogive measurment on this bullet with a reliable OAL? Have looked at going 4.2 grains Titegroup rather than go shorter, and maybe add a little crimp. Any input? Thanks! Cy Soto
Have you considered reducing the weight of the recoil spring? When I was shooting production I loaded 4.0gr of Titegroup behind a 124gr JHP MG or PD at an OAL of 1.115" I was using a 13 lb recoil spring and I never had any extraction or feeding issues. This load made 135 PF out of my Glock 34 and 130 PF out of my Glock 17. Edited August 20, 2013 by Cy Soto
noylj
Lighter recoil spring or a little more powder--or, make sure you aren't occasionally "limp wristing."
Kahai808
I would load it a little longer. I load mine at 1.145". Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
onebadeye
I load at 1.125- 1.135 with most bullets for all my 9 mm glocks with no feeding or ejecting problems.
waynewal
Wow Lots of replies- thanks very much for the guidance; Cy, noylj, Kahai808, and onebadeye. Will try more powder, then the different lengths. The MG 124 grain jus seems a little 'long in the tooth' when seated even to 1.10" Thank you, Wayne
Hi-Power Jack
4.1 grains OAL 1.10". occasional failure to eject. OAL you have to determine for your gun/mag with each specific bullet - find the longest that fit into your chamber/mag without catching - then make them a little shorter 2. crimp won't help - you need to determine the crimp so that it feeds properly and is accurate (too much crimp won't be accurate, and too little won't feed) 3. After you determine your OAL, and set the crimp properly, then you adjust the powder charge with a chrono - get the PF where you want it. 4. Once you get the OAL, crimp and charge where you want them, then you worry about springs (if it doesn't eject and you've checked all the other potential reasons for not ejecting properly, you might have to change the springs. Best to do these in this particular order - not randomly. Good luck
Yagi
i could run 1.160 oal in the glock mags but it all depends on what type of bullet... just like what "onebadeye" said i would run between 1.125-1.135 oal... gallardo0311
I run 4.0 gr titegroup for a 124hp at 1.155 oal and get about 130pf out of a stock glock 17.... Never any problems... In fact it's one if my best loads for big matches Edited August 21, 2013 by gallardo0311
rhyrlik
If they are underpowered at 1.1" then they will only get weaker the longer you load them. Try 1.050" OAL.
onebadeye
4.1 of titegroup at that short of an o.a.l. should not be under powered . You may want to check your scale.
jman93
4.0 TG for 124MG @ 1.140 makes 132 pf in my G34 all day in any weather. It has never let me down.
