Magnum primers in 223 Rem

The local gun store had some CCI 450 small rifle magnum primers i bought. Decent price and I was totally out.

My normal load is 55 gr fmj atop 27.0 gr. Varget.

Has anyone used the magnum primers in a 223 load for shooting in an AR?

Yes, unless you are at the upper end of your load, just load them up and shoot. If you are pushing the upper limits of the load you are using, back off a couple of tenths of a grain and chrono to see exactly where you are.

I use CCI #41 primers exclusively for my AR loads. They use the same magnum priming mix as the CCI #450 magnum primers. #41 are designed for ARs and other semi-auto rifles. Their main spec us a harder primer cup, designed to minimize/eliminate slam fires.

I wouldn't use them in an semi/auto due to slam-fire potential, however in a bolt gun it should not be dangerous. Can't speak to effectiveness though.

Ia anyone using the CCI #41 primers for 300 blackout? Due to the shortages of almost everything, all that I could find are #41 primers and 'lilgun powder. Anyone have a recipie using Hornady 110 gr V-Max?
