Polishing / Reshaping STI / SVI Mags

So I just purchased my first 2011, used, and it came with 2 mags.

I have since bought 2 more mags and the difference between them is rather noticible.

The ones that came with the gun have a high polish (not mirror, but close) and the stock ones are more of a dull grey.

I guess the ones that came with the gun were tuned and polished.

So how do you go about polishing mags?

Also it looks like the ones that came with the gun (used of course) are slightly different in overall geometry. The back end is more squared off than the stock mags and the front are more angular than than rounded stock mags.

Is this done when "tuning"?

Possible change in manufacturer and/or assembly process over the years.

The 2011 platform has been around for a bit now. I'm sure they found ways to make the mags cheaper, quicker, and/or better.

Of course not in no particular order.

For $100 the Dawson tune kit is a good start. (video has lots of info)

I Like to polish with dremal and also tune the inside by sanding and deburing.

Feed lips are the most important part of the process they must be set correctly and they get out of tune when they hit the ground.

the length front to back can also get out of spec when the mags hit the ground. This will cause the mags to not drop free.

Hope this helps
