SouthernYank
I have a Para P16 that has a fiberoptic front sight that has loosened up. Even after stripping, I don't see a set screw or any way to tighten it. Any help or guidance would be appreciated- thanks
ParaGunner
You have a couple options- 1. Buy a new front sight 2. Make a shim to put under old sight using loc-tite 3. If there's room drill and tap a set screw in the sight if there's room 4. Make a dimple in the slide under where the front sight goes to make it fit tighter Also always use loctite when installing sights
twodownzero
My STI has a roll pin. I think it's 1/16".
Aircooled6racer
Hello: You can install a 2-56 setscrew in the front sight(right side). I would also use a center punch and dimple the front sight. Always work on the less expensove part. Lastly use red Loctite to hold it in place. The setscrew also gives it that racey look Thanks, Eric
ParaGunner
If it's a Dawson front sight, it's not wide enough to put a set screw.
oak hill
or if you want it to stay in for life you could peen the corners of the slide down around the dovetail slightly
Julien Boit
+1 on dimples under the front sight. Then Loctite is your friend.
mikedio
Try 609 Loctite. It is a wicking compound that will seep into the small space between the sight base and slide dovetail. It is not as forever like the red locktite, but you will need Kroil too loosen it if you ever go to replace it. Mike
