  1. Alright a new season has started. I am super stoked for 2019. 2017 was my first non-level one match (Local) where I won production B class at the Indiana Sectional. In 2018 I shot my second level II match and again got a class win at the Indiana Sectional, but this time in A class. 2018 I shot my first ever match outside Indiana and first match above a level II, the USPSA Factory Gun Nationals (Production). I was able to walk away with 6th in A class and 53rd overall out of over 240 in production. I was really excited to see that I can occasionally hang with the big dogs, I even finished 3rd on stage 11 at 96.93% of the stage winner. Also managed to beat a LOT of Ms and some GMs overall so that was cool for an A class scrub. Follow me as I train and compete throughout 2019 on my way to the 2019 Iron Sight Nationals Nov 3rd-5th. 2. I currently have Springer Precision extended base pads (Xdm 5.25" .40sw) with Grams spring and follower. My issue is, sometimes the spring or follower (can't tell which) will get stuck and the ammo in the mag just pours out thus causing my gun to malfunction and ruining a stage. I'm guessing the follower tilts sideways and just jams up the mag. How f*#king annoying. What do ya'll do to combat this? Will the Springer Precision follower and spring fix this issue? Though, it does look to be the same profile as Grams just machined out of aluminum. Another thing, one of the screws on the SP basepads won't back-out...how the hell do I take it off? Is it a lost cause? Should I get TTI extended base pads? Will TTI base pads work with SP follower and spring? Should I just stick to whatever spring kit TTI comes with in order to have that extra reliability even though I'm losing that one extra round capacity? What's inside a black hole? Do black hole lives matter? So many questions - what do ya'll suggest?
  3. Does anyone have an opinion on aftermarket (or factory if Springfield makes them) adjustable night sights for the rear sight? Pros/Cons? I just picked up an XDm 5.25 45acp the other day and absolutely love it! The rear sight is great for daylight but was looking at using this gun in a low light and vehicle training class. Any and all thoughts are welcomed and appreciated. Cheers, -JD
  4. Hey all... New reloader here and I'm hoping to get some advice and info from you seasoned veterans. I would like to shoot .40 Major Power Factor in the Limited Division when I start out. I got a really good deal on an SA XD(M) 5.25" Competition in .40 S&W, so I'm going to be using that. Nothing special done to the firearm. I will be running it as it came from the factory, with the factory 5.25" match barrel. Ok, I bought 500 once fired Federal brass (already cleaned and ready to go), 1000 Winchester Small Pistol primers, a pound of TiteGroup and 500 Hornady 180gr XTPHP bullets. I probably wouldn't have gone with that bullet choice after reading all of the info here first, but I purchased all of this at the same time I bought my reloading equipment (from the same place/site), so that is why I went with it, so that is what I have to reload for now. I will change to another type of bullet after I have loaded these 500 rounds. So, my question is, has anyone done any loading data with the above (or very similar) items for the XDM 5.25" in .40 for Major in Limited? Any suggestions, hints, ideas? I know from other threads here that TG runs hot and since summer is right around the corner, I may be trying to find some VV N320 locally. If I can find it and someone has run the same setup above but with N320, I would also love to hear that loading data as well because I may be using that for future use. I do prefer 180gr .40 bullets as I have always carried, qualified and used them for duty ammo, plus it is my understanding that using the heavier bullet with the faster burning powder (TG or N320) will produce a softer recoil for Major. So, I figure that is the way to go and makes sense. I also looked up the info on the Hodgdon website for TG and it gave me the following loading data info for Hornady 180gr XTP HP bullets, but I'm curious to hear from others that have run TG on an XDM 5.25" on what their loading data is/was. TiteGroup (Case: Hornady Twist 1:16" Primer: Winchester SP Barrel Length: 4" Trim Length: .845") Stating Load: Gr 4.2 Vel 877 fps Pressure 26,500 psi Max load: Gr 4.7 Vel 978 fps Pressure 33,300 psi Bullet Dia: .400" COL: 1.125" (I read that factory .40 S&W OAL is 1.120") Now my barrel is 5.25" and the above info says 4" barrel, so I don't know if that would affect the COL info, amount of grains and/or pressure or not on the loads for my XDM. That is why I am asking. Again, better to be safe than sorry and thus the reason for this post. I checked the VV website for load data on the N320 and it had no load data for HP bullets (not for N320, it did for N340). Soooo, I wouldn't even know where to start. However, here is their info for N320 on Fiocchi 180gr LTC (Lead Truncated Cone?) bullets: N320 (Case: Remington Twist: 1:16" Primer: Small Pistol Test barrel: 5.5" Trim Length .843") Starting Load: Gr 3.5 Vel 883 fps Pressure Not Listed Max Load: Gr 4.1 Vel 968 fps Pressure Not Listed Bullet Dia: Not Listed COL: 1.126" So, I don't know how different of the loading data would be from the LTC bullets to the HP bullets for the N320. Again, any info on either of these loads would be truly appreciated as I'm trying to stick to either of these loads for this particular firearm for the time being. I'm not planning on loading anything until I get the info sorted out first. Plus, is there a better or certain OAL (Is that the same as COL above?) that I should run in the XDM 5.25" and how would that adjust/deviate the load data above? Thanks again for all the great info from everyone! Mat
  5. Currently have a xdm 5.25" in .40sw and was wondering, if possible, what I needed to do to shoot 9mm with it. Reliably, of course. Also, which barrel do ya'll recommend?
  6. Just got my xdm 5.25 .40 back from the springfield custom shop. Had them install their customer fit match barrel. Turn around time was two weeks. Before sending it back it would shoot 4-6 inch groups at 25 yards off a rest. Didn't matter which ammo I used. With the new barrel it consistently shoots 1.250" 5 shot groups at 25 yards off a rest, using 180 fmj factory ammo. The 165 fmj is right at 2". Well worth the money. This is the second gun I have had them re-barrel and am very pleased with both. I would recommend there service to anyone with an XD or XDM.
  7. Is the extended grip safety, ie gripe safety with the "memory bump" legal to use in Production division? Straight forward question, looking for a straight forward answer. I understand per the rules it says anything external must be offered by the OFM or the Custom Shop, so would the one by PRP be Prod legal, since their trigger kits are?
  8. 125gr, 135gr, or 147gr? Due to my my limited M&P going down and the delay in ordering my 2011(lack of $$ LOL), I will be shooting production with a 9mm XDm I got at a match for a while. This will also be my first time reloading 9mm so I had a question on bullet size since I tend to overthink the crap out of things at times. In a previous thread I read that the XD series might have a problem with the larger size bullets due to tighter barrel profile. Any help from XD or CZ (similar barrel profile) reloader's would be greatly appreciated. Equipment: Bullet Type: The Blue Bullets Powder: Titegroup Press: Dillon XL 650 Pistol: XDm 9mm 4.5"
  9. Here is my 5.25 9mm that's now set up to run Carry Optics. I had Ryan Spencer tune it up, and he machined the optics mount, as there isn't a mount that will work with the C-More STS2 available yet. Had my boss not been in town today, I would have shot it at a local match today, perhaps next week if I decided not to go to the Tigers game.
  10. I Ordered a handful of ammo from Freedom Munitions and was finally able to test it out. wanted to post some results with my XDm 5.25 9mm because I've found very few reviews on the 147gr 9mm remanufactured ammo. I ordered the following: - 147 9mm reman RN - 135 9mm reman HP - 147 9mm reman HP I set up the dot drill at 7 yards and 10 yards. Using the RN 147 gr 9mm remanufactured ammo I was able to keep all within the circles. I set the 1/2 size uspsa targets up at varying distances, including 22.5 yards (furthest at the indoor range, which has about 70% visibility at that distance due to the lack of lighting) and had great results. In total I shot 150 rounds with zero malfunctions. the attached picture is at 22.5 yards, all 5 shots fit in a business card, 3.5" group. Someone more proficient than I could likely keep within 2.5" to 3". I live-fire practice about 4 times a year and this is generally to set up new gear or dial in new ammo before a major match. By no means do I consider myself an accurate shooter. I'm very satisfied and will be using this ammo for local and major matches. Feel free to post any accuracy and chrono reports.
  11. Hey all, I know I need an STI Edge, but it will never ever happen in the foreseeable future. It would be an irresponsible purchase for a family man with my income. So, I need the next best thing. I have about 650 to spend. I've been shooting a hi-cap copy of the beretta 96, and I'm selling it this weekend to buy something that has an aftermarket parts availability. I wouldn't sell it if I could get mag extensions and a magwell on it. Here's my options as far as I can tell: Tanfoglio Witness Match Glock 35 M&P Pro 5" maybe an XDM 5.25" if I can find a deal I'm leaning heavily towards the Witness Match. It seems like the weight will help a lot with follow up shots. I like that the G35 comes with 3 mags and there are tons of cheap aftermarket parts but I have never shot a glock and I'm not sure we'll 'bond'. I like the M&P price and the fact that it comes with a FO front sight. I like the barrel length on the XDM but honestly I think it's an ugly gun- almost as ugly as a Glock. I know that shouldn't matter, but well, you know... And in Colorado I'll have trouble acquiring the 16 round mags. I really want to make a good decision here and I'm hoping you all can give me some points that maybe I haven't thought of.
  12. I looked everywhere for a 90 degree C-more mount for the Springfield XDm series, and came up blank. I prefer not to run C-mores upright due to the height of the lens centerline, though I know not everybody feels the same. So, I wasted a little time on the Bridgeport, and this is what I came up with. What do ya think? Pardon the dot shift in the last pic. It is hard to get a good index and hold the camera at the same time! Tom
  13. I have a Glock 17 with a drop in trigger kit, and while it is better, the pre-travel is quite long as well as VERY slushy. It is a ton better than the factory trigger set up, but am looking for something better. Id like a 2011/1911 but they are a bit out of my price range at the moment. In speaking with a gun smith/friend (who is not in the same town Im in), he states he can get the trigger on the XDm, to be very short, light and crisp. He said it would be night and day difference when compared to the Glock and more similar (not the same as) to a 1911. What are your thoughts? Thanks mondo
  14. I also posted this in the misc. section, but I thought it prudent to post here, since I'm looking to get a lot of Canyon Creek work done! Hey all, I'm trying to fund some upgrades to my XDM and per Dave Ramsey, I'm selling "what I got" to fund what I want. I've seen different opinions of paintball on the forums (some say its a blast, others say it teaches bad habits (violence, poor muzzle control, etc.), but at the end of the day, I'm wondering if anyone in the forums would like a well maintained, decently priced set of used paintball gear. I have a Tippmann A5, several CO2 tanks, a CP 14" barrel, CO2 coil hose with a tank belt, MP5-like stock, a paintball backpack, etc. It's great stuff, but these days if I'm up on a Saturday morning, I'm playing USPSA not paintball. If you have kids or anything into this, its a blast. I'll ship, if the price is right. So, Forum, do you think there's any interest in this here or should I shut my trap?

  16. Here are the better XDM complete disassmbly and reassembly videos that I can find. Frame disassembly Frame reassemblyGood luck! Anyone have tips on making this easier?
  17. I replaced my stock (and very worn out) recoil spring with Wolff springs. The package came with extra power striker springs.... What exactly do these do? I've read they reduce lock time, and I have also read they increase trigger pull weight. Are those both correct? I haven't installed them yet, wanted to check it out a bit first. I am going to be doing a trigger job soon, looking for a lighter pull, but if decreasing the lock time is worth it, I can sacrifice a little on trigger weight if lock time is a bigger benefit. Suggestions? Ideas?
  18. Originally built as a full blown Limited gun, by Scott Springer. I turned her into an Open gun last fall with . . . Pistol Gear barrel, Springer 3 port comp, Springer sight base, Fastfire II sight and a slide racker designed and made by myself.
