  1. We are thinking about building wall bases out of steel. I have seen ones that have a flat piece of steel with pipes welded vertically to hold the 2x2 for a wall. I was wondering if anyone had any info for me on these? Like how thick is the flat base metal, what ID of pipe to use, and how tall the pipes need to be. I have a metal fab shop that is a client, and I can get the steel much cheaper, but I don't know what exactly what I need so I can tell them. Thanks in advance. Matt
  2. Poll Options: Retention as a Separate Division: Limited Optics will become a permanent, standalone division, maintaining its unique rules and identity separate from other divisions. Discontinuation of the Division: The Limited Optics division will be discontinued after the provisional period, with no integration of its rules or characteristics into existing divisions. Merger with Carry Optics: Limited Optics will merge with the Carry Optics division, combining elements of both divisions into a single, unified category. Do you believe that USPSA currently has too many divisions, and how do you think this impacts the sport and the introduction of divisions like Limited Optics? If you had the opportunity to give direct feedback to the USPSA board about the Limited Optics division, what would you say?
  3. Question for the experienced: I was a police officer for ~5 years (mostly as a reserve, some full-time but now "just" a paramedic, I enjoy being on "the other side" better). During that time I carried and qualified with a Glock 21. I know that gun as if it's a part of my body. I'm a C-class Single Stack shooter (less than a year in USPSA) who's about to seek a classification in Production and I had a 9mm handgun I'd been working with to start with. Recently, however, I've found a 45 load that meets minimum power factor but is otherwise 'minor,' which isn't a problem since all production is minor. It's Federal's Gold Medal Match, 185gr, 770fps. Any thoughts on using this for an occasional production match? It's expensive ammo so it's not something I'd be buying but I've got a source to get some as part of a trade deal and it would probably be enough for a match or two. If it worked out well it might be enough to propel me into reloading and working up a similar load at better costs. Thoughts on "45 minor" vs 9mm?
  4. So I have design a Glock thumb-rest that is legal for CO/limited CO and limited. Also for anyone that says it’s not legal I have read over all the rules and talked to Troy from the org and he has said it’s good to go. but I just thought I’d share some pictures and if anyone had any questions please let me know. it’s made of stainless steel.

  6. Last night USPSA, our Team Master Blasters from North Berwick, ME as joined Sig Sauer Academy to assist in providing staffing for the upcoming 2023 match schedule. This will include IDPA, USPSA, Steel Wall and a whole host of competitive events. This will be publicly announced over the next couple weeks. Keep an eye out for their Academy website updates with all the details. Equally, you can check out Practiscore for listed matches. Sig will be doing indoor matches during the colder months then begin to host matches in the outdoor bays. Here's some inside pics I took during our meeting in the main conference room at the new Experience Center with Chad Barber.
  7. Hello all, I’m starting my journey into USPSA and would like tips for improvement. I’m working on my technique in dry fire and running drills based off of Ben Stoeger’s dry fire book. Going to the range is your typical no drawing from holster and limited to shooting at one target. I’m sure shooting 6 shots rapidly won’t get me kicked out. I do use the rifle sight in targets to practice transitions and lately printing out A zone sized targets with a smaller circle in the middle. The smaller circle helps with giving me something to focus on and anything outside of It is what I try to limit. I used this setup to practice doubles and controlled pairs. What else would be worth focusing on? With the price of ammo I’m shooting twice per month. One range session and one match. Any tips for shooting at an indoor range and getting some quality practice. Thanks!
  8. I'm having another gun built and would like insight on the following two (mockups) ideas. A few things to note: Only for local steel matches, no USPSA, IPSC 2011 only as I have plenty of mags and enjoy the weight of the gun Shooting factory (minor pf) rounds only Using SS cheely grip Using atlas slide for either style (open/atlas optic system) 5in govt slide w/kkm bull barrel NO comp as my limited gun using the same parts barely moves during recoil DLC for final finish Any and all thoughts or recommendations are much appreciated. First option is a 5in atlas slide milled for their optic plate system, tritopped, and panel cuts Second option is a 5in atlas slide with rear swoop cut, panel cuts and atlas frame mount for RDS
  9. Hello, I am brand new to reloading and looking for some recommendations and and load data to use for 147gr FP Black Bullet International (BBI) and 147gr blue bullets both RN and FP. I have Ramshot Silhouette and Accurate #7 powders, losing mixed brass with CCI 500 primers. Intended for 9mm minor for USPSA. I called BBI and asked their recommendations and he said those powders would not get best results and recommend a shotgun powder. Just looking for a little guidance if anyone has good load recipe with what I have or a powder they would recommend for those bullets. Thanks!
  10. Here is my chronograph testing on a Palmetto State Armory PSA Gen4 16 inch barrel. All using Tightgroup and CCI 500 primers fired at 10 feet from chronograph. Loading this for my Niece for USPSA, Minimum power factor of 125 is minimal power factor. What are your loads for USPSA PCC? I think I like the 3.1 115 grain Berry plated round nose. 3.0 grain Tightgroup. OAL 1.140 FPS 1098.67 x 115 = 126.34 power factor. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 115 grain Berry plated round nose. 3.1 grain Tightgroup. OAL 1.140 FPS 1131.67 x 115 = 130.14 power factor. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 115 grain Berry plated round nose. 3.2 grain Tightgroup. OAL 1.140 FPS 1175.00 x 115 = 135.12 power factor.

    Two Eyes Open

Ok. Shooting USPSA Production Division. Keeping both eyes open I still see double vision. I see two sights and two targets. I know what sight and target to use and I really concentrate on the the front post. Just wondering if the double vision thing is normal. Thanks.
  13. This is Jim Tan from Canada. I love IPSC/USPSA. I have been shooting matches for one year and seven months now. One year and ten months from the day I first shot a handgun. Now, I make up my mind and know I love this sport so much that I want to be the "Paper M". I want to prepare myself for world shoot 2020. In year 2018 to 2020 shooting season, I will focus on open division. I registered my USPSA membership, and will shoot some USPSA matches in US next year. So I can practice real open division shooting, not the "Open 10" division in Canada. haha! I will update my daily training info and video here, so to push myself to keep up the work and get better.
  14. What a personal s#!t show today. Local match, hoping to run the Glock 45 I’ve switched to for CO. Gun was zeroed, function checked and ready. Mags loaded. The first stage had some build problems that had to be corrected that didn’t get noticed until a few shooters ran (who then would have to reshoot the updated stage). Because of that i changed my plan and decided to run right to left, which I still think is the better option. The problem is I planned my reload location poorly, then compounded it by stumbling while reloading on the move and broke the 180. I wish I could say I didn’t shoot to plan but I did... and didn’t leave myself any room for error. Then error happened. No argument, but now I’m on the way home to ice my ankle. Apparently even with plates and screws it’s not meant to take all my body weight and momentum on the balls of my left foot as the only contact point. Bright side: I have an excuse to not mow the yard when I get home now. Edit to add: Also sort of glad I didn’t end up having to shoot Long Range Standards 2, which was one of the stages (but no longer counts as a classifier).
  15. Those that know me, know this has been a long time coming. Hope this is a helpful little nugget I wrote up. This is just some stuff I like and what I use. Having used just about every part and part combo this is what works for me. I have reasons for each part. I get alot of questions and i hope this finds some well. As always YMMV. @PatriotDefense @johnbu 9mm GT Stroked slide Beveled mag well(transition between mag well helps smooth reloads) Tuned 9mm Extractor(typically factory extractor is 38. 9mm needs more tension for reliability) Polished and Lapped rails. This is basically what you have to do to the GTs and this is thee best parts and parts combos I've used and found. Enjoy.
  16. I don't see any A/M/GAs running TSOs . With major power loads does the 2011 style trigger matter more the faster you go? Do you think a hinged trigger contributes to pulling the second shot of a pair low vs a 2011 trigger - all other things being equal.
  17. Hi guys, Hoping someone can chime in and help steer me in the right direction here...Shot a little indoor match last night (4 stages) and had several light strikes/hammer falls on each stage. This is my match gun, barely has 1K rounds through it. I have never had this happen with this pistol (practice gun was a different story) so i want to get this squared away before my next match. Here is my current set up: Ammo: Blue Bullets 125g Winchester small pistol primers Vectan BA 9.5 powder OAL @ 1.125 +/- Mixed range brass Pistol: Stock barrel reamed to SAMI spec by Patriot Defense PD BOLO (fitted with the help of PD) 10lb recoil spring 15.5 PD hammer spring PD optimized trigger return spring PD optimized sear spring PD optimized firing pin spring Extreme firing pin (polished) Extreme one piece sear (polished) Extended firing pin block Stock plunger (polished) Stock plunger spring Titan hammer (base and holes polished as instructed) All applicable internals polished for smoother action/lighter trigger pulls, but nothing too crazy (I do not have trigger pull weights to disclose unfortunately) I case gauge every single round i load before matches as well as practice, and this time was no different. I'm not concerned about crazy light trigger pull weights, etc. I set this gun up with the intention of 100% reliability at matches. This is the first and only time she has behaved this way so my initial reaction was a bad/hard batch of primers but I'm not fully bought into that idea yet... I haven't changed a single thing over the past several matches where she ran 100% with this exact set up (ammo included) Thanks in advance for any help/advice you fellow shooters can offer. -Chase
  18. I finished my first 2011 build. To my surprise it actually shoots and it is more accurate than I am. I am having some reliability issues, though. First issue is a sticking of the slide. When to the gun starts to get hot after a few rounds, the slide begins to get stuck in battery and it takes a lot of force to rack the slide and eject the spent casing. When the gun cools down again, seems to work fine for a bit. Any ideas on why this is happening?

  21. Tried looking, but Not sure if they were posted already. Changes are highlighted in red. Biggest change is the 59oz weight limit in production and CO. https://uspsa.org/documents/minutes/20200214_7 APPENDIX D4_D7 changes.pdf
  22. Am I still USPSA Production class legal to put a Shadow 2 paddle mag release on a SP01? My understanding is that it would be as the rules say that you can use parts from another gun that is on the approved list but I wanted to check with the experts first.

    Accu Shadow 2

I've got an Accu Shadow with quite a few miles on it, and have planned to replace it at the end of the year. I really wanted to get another identical Accu, but now that they've come out with the Shadow 2 I think I should make the switch. I just looked on the CZ Custom website and they're selling the Accu Shadow 2 now. That's the one I want. Any idea when it could be approved? How does it work? Seemed like the Shadow 2 made the list pretty fast. Thanks

  25. I have noticed a significant improvment in my ability to manuever through a course of fire in USPSA since I started to take my physical fitness more seriously. Howvever, I am always looking to improve my movement and was wondering what everyone was doing to train for compettive shooting. I am not talking about gun handling and entries/exists, but more physical fitness to have more explosive movements. Thanks.
