  1. Apologies if this is already answered elsewhere - I did a search, and found this question asked a couple of times, but couldn't find an answer for the life of me... I recently picked up a Supernova for the remaining matches/rulesets that require a pump gun in Heavy. I didn't quite do all of the research that I'd normally do, because this was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing (a Gunbroker auction that was running lower than usual that I unexpectedly won). So, now that it's on the way, I have some questions about how to get it set for competition. My arms being a little on the short side, I typically run a shorter LOP on shotgun stocks than is common on stock guns. I've found that the LOP on the "compact" versions of Benelli and Stoeger models (both have the same LOP) is just about perfect for me. As near as I can tell, Benelli does not produce a compact 12 ga. version of the Supernova. They make a compact 20 ga. Supernova and a compact 12 ga. M2, but that's about it. That goes for aftermarket stocks as well - I can find compact stocks for a 12 ga. M2 or a 20 ga. Supernova, but that's the closest I can find to what I'd need. I could always just hack off a bit of the stock... uh, stock... and honestly might just wind up doing that anyway, given how pricey the Benelli replacement parts tend to be, but before committing to that, I might as well make sure I know what my options are. So... will an M2 stock fit on a Supernova? And/or will a 20 ga. Supernova stock fit on a 12 ga. Supernova?
  2. Hello, Recently, I sent a brand new Tanfo Stock II over to Patriot Defense for their patented tuneup and barrel reaming. They also installed the extended firing pin, titan hammer, bolo, one piece sear, and Xtreme trigger. Out of the box the trigger was PHENOMENAL, both in DA and SA. Unfortunately, the first range trip was plagued with failure to feeds, and a weird "ca chunk" whenever the slide cycled. After perusing the forums here, it seemed I needed to chamfer off the breechface edge and polish the breechface. I got in contact with PD and they confirmed it was probably the breechface edge issue and gave the go ahead to chamfer the edge while also telling me Tanfo's need a 1000 rounds to break in. They even stated there were no issues when it was test fired at their facility? I chamfered off the edge and breechface little by little like everyone suggested until the failure to feed issue stopped, but the "ca chunk" continued. Thinking this issue stemmed from the wolff 8lb standard recoil spring, I tossed in a wollf 10lb standard spring to no avail and a factory 14lb spring which yielded the same result. After noticing weak ejection with softer ammo and sometimes rounds getting stuck with the slide out of battery, I bought a new extractor with the (9) stamp and an XP extractor spring to cross this off the list (the original had a bunch of machining marks and no (9) stamp). Next range trip, the "ca chunk" continues and within 100 rounds two were somehow stuck in the chamber while the slide was 1/8"- 1/4" out of battery. I had to take the gun apart to get the rounds out since the slide was stuck. This makes me think there is something wrong with the barrel after it was reamed, maybe. The mags I am using are brand new K9s. The issue happens with all mags (12) and all ammo. Everyone that has seen it in slow mo and shot it agrees it's not cycling right. Any thoughts??
  3. I was at the range shooting and my Glock 35 w/factory trigger started to malfunction. It first shot a couple of doubles, then a triple and finally a quad and I stopped. Switched out the trigger with another factory trigger and it ran fine. When I got home I called Glock and they would not let me send it to them. It had to go through a Glock Armorer. They said there is a part in the trigger they cannot send to a private citizen? I asked are you not interested in inspecting this trigger to see what went wrong (other than a polish job, nothing had been adjusted). They were not and said that a polish job sometimes can cause the trigger to malfunction. So I have found a Glock Armorer and he is dealing with Glock for me? Anyone else have this experience?
  4. I am new-ish to the tanfo platform and I am having great success with it. Shot with a Shadow 2 most of this season and I am currently shooting the Tanfo. I was able to put 600 rounds in 3 range visit and I am blown away by the difference in between the two platforms, very happy with the Stock 2. I have purchased a few shock buffers for this pistol, and I tried it with and with out and I could not notice any difference in felt recoil, however, the action becomes stiffer when the buffer is in, like if there was less wiggle room between the barrel and the slide when out of battery and it takes more effort to rack the slide. The gun was used for about 200 rounds with a buffer with no ill effects, however, when operated by hand I can feel it is tighter. Wondering if any of you has any first hand experience with these buffers. I am thinking that they might be a gimmick and might as well keep them out.
  5. Does anyone out there have a stock 3 chambered in 45acp? Curious to know the weight of one and see if I can make it IDPA CDP legal (needs to be under 43oz) which I believe can be obtained. Would also like to make it SSP legal for the sake of being able to interchange parts parts off of it and remain legal.
  6. I ran my Benelli Nova for the first year of 3 gun because it was what I had. Learned and lot and still have much more to learn. I got completely addicted and had planned on upgrading to a semi auto over the winter. Looks like it will be middle of the summer or next fall before I'm ready to go ahead and buy the new shotgun though. I'm now sitting here with several months until any matches and thinking I want to shorten the stock on my Nova. Length of pull has always been a long and I want to shorten it up 1 inch. My plan is to cut and sand a wood block down until it fits snugly into the hollow stock and then epoxy it into place so I have something to attach the butt pad to. First question is does anyone have a good way to hold the stock while on the chop saw to make sure it does not move? On the Nova the stock is part of the receiver so this is a measure 3 times, think about it some, and cut once type of operation. Second question is what would be a good epoxy to use that will bond to the wood and the material of the stock?
  7. I am fortunate enough to be squadded with Henning. He asked me what parts do we need for our Tanfoglio's.... I relayed the typical item i know people are looking such as magwells, grips, ....... What else? Hammer? Interuptor? Trigger ???
  8. Ok folks, Last month I shot my first three gun match. Which is also the first time I used an AR in any sort of competition. What I'd like to know is, what do you folks prefer for a dedicated 3gun rifle stock? I have a parts kit gun with a basic cheap M4 adjustable set up but I swapped it with my other AR's Magpul MOE stock for the match. Yall are going to think this is funny as crap but the problem I have with these adjustable stocks is my mustache is getting caught in it and it just seems to be flimsy to me. I deer hunt with a Remington R25 in .308 and I'm think about making one of my ARs into a dedicated 3gun rifle with a fixed stock. Im really liking the skeleton style or maybe even that MOE fixed from Mgapul or Rock River operator I think it is. What do you guys have?? Thanks
