Just started shooting Open with an RTS2 red dot sight... My sight mount doesn't have a shield in front of the sight and some oil gets splashed on the lens... What's the best way to clean it? I've tried normal eye glasses cleaner and it doesn't do much... I don't want to hurt the protective coating on the lens, but I want to get the oil off...

So I'm trying to figure out what sight heights to buy from Dawson Precision. I want the Glock 34 Gen 3 to hit POI/POA with 115gr bulk ammo (Winchester, Federal, Fiocchi, etc.) at 20-ish yards. From navigating Dawson's website, should I just get the Competition Fixed Sight Set? (Item 310-003) The sight set has a .205 tall front and a .225 tall rear. Will that get hits POI/POA @ 20-ish yards? Other suggestions? Thanks!

The rules for 3 Gun Heavy Metal Limited Division state: "...Not more than one (1) non-magnified electronic or optical sight is permitted. Electronic or optical sights originally designed to be capable of any magnification (whether used or not) are prohibited." Can anyone here recommend a non-magnified electronic sight (eg. a red dot) for use on an M1A? How about a non-magnified optical sight (a scope) for use on the same rifle? Thanks much. -
I'm asking for recommendations on setting up sights for a USPSA Production Division gun. Recently I had a setup for a dead-center hit at 20 yards, but this was hitting too low at the targets most frequently encountered, which seem to be within the 7- to 10-yard distance. The gun in question is a Glock G34, shooting a 147 grain CMJ bullet at about 866fps. I've used Taran Tactical and Dawson adjustable rear/fiber optic front sights, and have both on hand. So, when you're setting up your sights, at what distance do you want a perfect center-hit POI? At this point I'm thinking about setting up for a perfect center hit a 7- 10 yards, and accepting a slightly low hit at 20 yards. Thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated. I'm old enough to be slow, so I've GOT to be accurate. Chris

I have been shooting with competition in mind for a couple of months now. I am 45 and am trying to figure out my best options for shooting with my vision. Here are some basics: Near sighted Left eye is -1.25 right eye is -1.25 I am left eye dominant, but I am right handed. For several years I have worn a contact in my right eye but not in my left(the bi-focal effect). As you get older your close up visions suffers. Now that I'm shooting I don't think that is a good idea. Here is what I have tried. Contact in right eye/right eye open=closeup visions suffers and it is hard to focus on the front sight. Contact in right eye/left eye open=I can focus on the front sight, but target is very blurry. Contact in left eye/right eye open=I can focus on the front sight, but target is very blurry. Contact in left eye/left eye open=closeup visions suffers and it is hard to focus on the front sight. Tried both eyes open the other day, either double sights or double target. you get the idea. I am sure I could adapt to any with practice, but there has to be a preferred scenario in this. Shoot with no contacts in/ or both in/ in dom eye/ non dom eye? Both eyes open would probably be best I would think. Any help much appreciated, I am sure I'm not the only one with this issue. BTW I am shooting a M&P Pro 9L CORE, if that info helps.

Hi have a full size M&P 9mm and I am going to change out the factory sights for a plain black rear and FO front sight. I was looking at the Warren Sevigny Tactical set. Has anybody tried these? Does it shoot POA/POI? I can't find much information on the height of the front sight in the set. Searching this forum and it look like most people got just the Warren rear sight and used a Dawson front sight, but if the set is correct it would be easier to just order it. Thank you.

This last Sunday, I must have tapped the sight on a port on my first run. Second stage, I went blind. The FO insert came flying out. Really screwed the stage up for me. I did find the 3/4 length fragment to melt back in.
