Case goes in to sizing die at a slight tilt. Now before you say the usual suspects, I promise I’ve completely made all adjustments for that way in the beginning when I started loading on the press. I’m at the point where I’ve just replaced the entire platform. Yes, the complete main platform that bolts to the main shaft. Pulling my hair out because it didn’t even help a little. It’s not worse, nor better. So what happens is when I size a 357 magnum case, at the very bottom of the the brass, it’s sizing too much to where to can see the outline of the case head…and only on one side. If I spin it, you don’t. This is obviously from that slight tilt I was talking about as it goes in to the die. So the sizing is basically not concentric. I think this is happening on other rounds I load as well, like 9mm, 40, and 45. But it’s not as noticeable until you size a longer case like a 357. I’ve singled out every common usual suspect, but feel free to chime in just in case I haven’t. -
Looking to pickup my first Rimfire Pistol and want the best performing & reliable 22lr pistol on the market. From my limited research, Volquartsen looks like my best bet. What are the other top options that I can compare it to? Wanting a 22 optic ready pistol for when I take out family & friends for plinking that are new to shooting but also something that I can use for rimfire steel competitions. Are there any other 22’s are out there that can compete with the Volquartsen Scorpion or Mamba? -
Prior to getting into competition I always thought that firearms were indestructible and lasted indefinitely. However, I was recently told that, for a semi-auto, each time the slide cycles it scrapes off a miniscule amount of metal from the slide rails. Eventually, the slide rails will get so thin that the frame will need to be replaced, or the rails will outright crack because they're so thin. On that note, do revolvers also suffer from something similar to this, or revolvers last longer? For revolvers I've heard that frame stretching can be a problem. So, if I do something like cerakote on the slide rails, will that stop the wearing done on the slide rails, or can that not be done, or it won't stop the wearing down of the slide rails? Thanks

Hey Guys, Well, I haven't been here in forever... Anyway, our State Match is up on Practiscore and USPSA but the last time I looked, I don't think Troy had approved our Level II status. Ten stages plus chrono, two days in half-day shooting format. I believe we're doing trophies and perhaps modest prizes and that's mostly because we in VISSC all suck at asking for prizes. I noticed another (closed) thread about traveling here from a potential entrant and I won't deny that the registration process is a little annoying, but I'm pretty sure that those who've come to shoot it in past years will tell you they had a good time. And it is Maui, after all. You can take what HI5-0 said as most accurate. The place you go from the airport is 55 Mahalani Street, Wailuku HI 96793. Park in the lot, go in the glass doors facing the flagpole and turn right. At the windows to Records, inform the person who's there that you need to register your gun(s). Have an appropriate photo ID: driver's license or passport. You will also need proof of citizenship, like a birth certificate (yes, I KNOW). The $42.00 FBI Rapback fee has to be in a certifiable form like a cashier's check or cash. The person will give you a form to fill out with the gun's info: caliber, barrel length, S/N, etc. or she may just ask you to open the case and take it herself as she gets the S/N. Once you're through, you don't ever have to re-register that gun or pay the fee again...good if you DO have a good time and wanna come back sometime. As of right now, the match is full, and we're wait-listing people, but only about two-thirds have paid so I expect there to be slots if you want to get in. I’m building an AR chambered in .300 with an adjustable gasblock and pistol length gas tube. Can i still run the TACCOM ultralightweight buffer system? (It’s a 10.5” barrel and 7” gas tube. With a lightweight bcg )

As a part of my ongoing divisional tour of USPSA, I'm in the process of setting up a carry optics gun. Before I set up a Glock 17 gen 5 with one of my trusty RMRs, or join the dark side and use a 320, I thought I would solicit a few opinions on the best red dot for carry optics. I like and am relatively familiar with the RMR platform, and would use this for self defense, but the lack of dot clarity, blue lens tint, and small field of view is a bit off-putting. I'm seeing a lot of Leupold delta point pros showing up in competition lately, I like the glass quality, and lack of blue lens tint, but have concerns on battery life. Max Michel is having a great deal of success with the Sig optics Romeo 01 (but he's Max Michel), and I like the field of view, but not the biggest fan of the blue tint. Vortex optics has a great reputation and I run a lot of their optics on my more practical rifles. Their warranty is second to none, quality is always good, and I like the Razor I have as a side mount on one of my rifles. All that said I have very little hands on time with the venom, or viper. Any feedback anyone has on what you choose to use and why, or notable issues on the others would be appreciated. Thanks for your time all.

The main reason I reload is to save money. I recently ran across a handgun training system that looks like reloading, at least for pistols, is no longer necessary and seems to be a smarter thing to use. Up till now, there has been no way to completely simulate the experience of firing a pistol. The thing that, as far as I know, is the most important thing to learn to handle is the kick. You can dry-fire all day, but there is no kick. You are forced to go to the range to get that particular experience. These Coolfire guys (http://coolfiretrainer.com/) have finally come up with a way to simulate the kick with a CO2-driven recoil and a laser pulse thingy. And I can't really see why pistol reloading is really necessary any more. Let me list some advantages: 1. I like reloading, but it is a VERY high-concentration thing. There is little room for error at the reloading bench. Plus there is all the knowledge necessary---different kinds of powders, bullets, how much to use. Plus equipment---chronographs, scales, and so forth. Unless you have to have high-precision pistol bullets, I don't see the need to acquire all this any more. I don't shoot to reload. I reload to shoot. 2. This CoolFire thing is actually CHEAPER than reloading. I think .$.03 a shot is the number I heard mentioned. Plus you need ZERO equipment and no special knowledge. 3. It's safer. Can't blow yourself up with bad ammunition you didn't make. No squibs, no undercharges, no overcharges. 4. The time spent pulling a handle is now time you can spend pulling a trigger. That's hours and hours and hous practicing handling kick and doing transitions. This is actually the most attractive aspect for me. Yes, you still need to go the range, but once a month would be sufficient. Add it all up, this CoolFire thing looks cheaper, faster---and BETTER. I can think of one minor drawback. You can't dial in how much kick you want, at least not yet. Has anybody out there actually gone this route? Anybody know any reasons why this won't work? Right at the moment I am seriously leaning toward consigning my 550B to the technological junk heap right next to horse-drawn wagons and moving into the 21st century with my very own laser pistol. -

Topton Fish and Game and Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club will be holding a 3 Gun series in 2016. It will be a four match series with all matches counting towards the prize table, but you can qualify for prizes shooting as little as one match. The match fee will be $30.00 per match, with a one time $30.00 fee if you want to be eligible for the prize table. The total for all 4 matches and the prize table will be $150.00. The prize table be made up up cash and some other prizes donated by sponsors. We will also hold a drawing for random cash prizes. Anyone that is eligible for the prize table and doesn’t finish in the cash or prizes will be entered into this random draw raffle. All cash and prizes are dependent upon the number of people that enter the points series by paying the extra $30.00. Once we know how many people have entered the points series we will announce the payout amounts. This match is more about having fun and introducing new people to the sport than having a big prize table. Points will be given by order of finish, the winner getting 100 points, 2nd place getting 98, third 97,4th 96 and so on. The winner gets one extra bonus point as we have done in the past. The matches will be April 17 and September 18 at Topton Fish and Game May 21 and October 30 at Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club You will use all three guns at all the matches and we will be using the 200 yard range at Topton and the 300 yard range at Ontelaunee at both matches. We will honor the following divisions. Open, Tactical Optics, Limited (irons, or non-magnified dot), and Pistol Caliber Carbine. The prize table for each division will be based on the number of entries in that division, If we have less than 6 people in a division we will not payout for that division, but I will make posts here and notify the people in those divisions so they can switch division if they want. Division rules will follow 3 Gun Nation guidelines. For pistol caliber Carbine division we will have different long range targets, similar to what 3 gun nation is doing. We will only accept registration for people paying for and registering for all four matches until February 26th. You do not have to enter the point series to register early, just enter for all four matches, then from then until a week before the match you may register for 3 or less matches until the match is full. series entry form.pages.zip -

From now on say "Paper" not plastic. Cut it in half. Cut the top to the back. BOOM. Free sorta IDPA targets. -
We have formed a new USPSA club at West Shore Sportsmen's Association in Lewisberry, PA (across the river from Harrisburg). We are planning on running matches on the third Saturday of the month from March to November weather permitting. We will run a five or six stage match using five bays. We would like to run two classifiers a month with four field courses mixed in. Our match capacity is probably going to be about 75 shooters - with five bays running that means 15 shooter squads. I'm needing to set up a second pistol for 3 gun and I have a G17 that currently has no purpose. I'm thinking of starting to slowly build it up for 3 gun and one thing that I like about my current pistol is it has a longer sight radius. Would a Taylor Freelance barrel shroud not be legal under any of the larger 3 gun match rule sets? I shoot limited and don't plan on any other division anytime soon. As far as why, to set it up with sights, trigger, barrel, and shroud I'd have about $140 more in the pistol than the price of a stock G34. Also I think it looks cool and why not unless I can't shoot it and remain in limited division. For now it can be narrowed down to this rule from RM3G, (bold added by me)- 6. Limited Classes a. Firearms must be of factory configuration. b. Pistols with custom or factory installed electronic sights, optical sights, extended sights, compensators or barrel porting are NOT allowed in this class. Pistol magazines shall not exceed 170mm overall length for single stacks, and shall not exceed 140mm OAL for staggered magazines. Does it violate factory configuration or count as an extended sight?

Tomorrow, the UPS driver will be delivering a batch of Lucas Oil Contact Cleaner and Extreme Duty Gun Oil. I'm hoping to retire all of my FrogLube products. They work fine, but I expect to get slightly better performance out of the Lucas Oil product line, given how I operate. However, I am missing at least one thing. What would be a good grease for higher wear locations on all three guns? Or am I over thinking this because the Extreme Duty product won't need the grease in spots? I'm accustomed to putting grease on slide rails and the like. Maybe one of the Lucas sponsored shooters has an opinion? Thank you all for your input and assistance. -
Hey again, Looking to mount a red dot on the slide of my BUL M5. It comes standard with a ported barrel therefore i have to shoot it in open division. What i need is a decent red dot sight. Any advice? Thanks

Video clip from a 3 Gun match last month. I am really trying to improve my pistol technique and skills. My first 5 shots where all good hits so I started to speed up quite a bit and then started missing almost every other shot. I also notice my recoil control starts out great and then seems to gets worse and worse. Any explanation for this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. hopefully this link works..

This coming Saturday, October 4TH is the next regularly scheduled USPSA match for the club. With the usual 4 stages including a classifier. The match starts at 7AM.
