  1. I have used the Taccom a bit has anyone used anything else and what where your thoughts on any and all of them?
  2. Wanted to know what’s your loading data for MPX 8” barrel with 8.5”sleeve/shroud and PF ? TIA
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw4SPq9QnWM
  4. I got a new MPX carbine for PCC. As is usual the trigger sucked for competition. Replaced with Hiperfire 24C as this was recommended by several other shooters. Kept the stock safety. Installed and ran about 50 rounds with no issues. Shot first match today, ran great the first stage then had an issue during the second. The safety would not disengage. Move to fire and trigger would not move, cycle safety and fired one round, had to cycle safety again. Did this off and on for next two stages then ran great for final stage. Stayed after and ran 100 rounds with no problem. Another shooter with an MPX said his did this and he just replaced the the safety with a Noveske unit. I'm not opposed to changing the safety but would like to understand whats causing the problem. Any insight would be great. Thanks
  5. Has anyone tried to install a Magpul UBR 2.0 stock on a MPX with a KAK adapter? If so, how did you prevent it from spinning on the buffer tube? It comes with a piece that would prevent it from spinning on an AR type rifle, but here is no where to mate on a KAK adapter.
  6. Hey guys. Search came up with nothing. So if I missed it and am cloning a previous post please let me know i have a mpx carbine and have about 2000 124gn eggleston projectiles. Anyone have any experience with them through a pcc? Any load data with numbers would b sweet. Wanting to use these bullets but afraid to in open so figure try through the rifle. Thanks for any help In advance. Happy turkey day!
  7. I am thinking of having the upper and lower receiver cerakoted. Looking at disassembling all the parts and have a few concerns. While its a little different than an AR I think I see what needs done. I am just wondering anyone has any words of wisdom that can keep me from learning something the hard way for once? Thanks Andrew
  8. I am having issues reloading for my MPX. I currently am trying to load lead bullets that i mold myself and size to .356 (both 125 and 147 gr). I was wondering if anyone has had their MPX 16" carbine barrel reamed? If so, could you suggest someone? I had read in another forum that someone tried but the barrel was chrome-lined (though i am unable to confirm this). Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Bought a used MPX, I noticed first 3 to 5 inches of bore has yellow brass colored fouling. Not the normal copper color. No idea what it is. Maybe shooter before me was firing brass bullets, or maybe its brass from a cleaning rod. Doesn't matter, I want to get it out. Tonight, I attempted to clean the bore to barrel metal and ran into several issues. I think there are two options. 1) Ejector restricts in-line axial cleaning. I have to bend cleaning rod or the rod is gouged by ejector. Do most people remove ejector? Ejector is held in with 2 torx screws that aren't in the normal set. What size torx should I order? It's between T10 and T15. How much would you torque these to upon reassembly? Is it a bad idea to remove these every cleaning? 2) I thought about removing the barrel to have easy breach access, but was concerned with red dot zero shift, I'd rather not have to re-sight in or worry about my zero every time i want to clean barrel to bare metal. Has anyone checked for zero shift with a barrel removal and reinstall?
  10. Hello everyone, I put a Ar10 Elftmann Match trigger in my Sig MPX (Gen 2) a few days ago. The first day when I tried to zero it, the trigger failed to reset a few times. I have it set at about 4lbs, and I followed the installation instructions carefully, so I don't think it's user error. I tried manipulating the trigger with the upper off so I could see what is happening. I found the hammer was getting caught on the disconnector. After cycling it a few times, the problem went away so I assumed it was just new and needed to be worked in. Now however, it's impossible to fire the MPX quickly. I tried firing 1 shot, quickly releasing the trigger and pulling it again as fast as possible. The trigger was dead on the 2nd pull as if I failed to reset it properly, however after waiting about 3 seconds with the trigger still pulled, the MPX fired. So I believe the hammer is still getting caught on the disconnector and if you wait long enough, it slips free. For some reason, it only happens when I'm trying to run the trigger fast. The fastest it's ever shot is a 0.17 split. If I run the trigger faster than that, the hammer is gets caught on the disconnector. If I run it slower, it works fine. There are Youtube videos where people file down the contact points, but I'm hesitant to do that. I'll call Elftmann tomorrow, but has anyone else had this problem? Suggestions? Thanks for the help! Kurt
  11. Good price for sig mpx 20rnd mags http://redirect.viglink.com/?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_149477888910746&key=b7ae79680df99d8068666101b1857d9a&libId=j2oug4gu01015pxz000MA1qb3lu4xrax4y&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fsigtalk.com%2F%23%2Ftopics%2F173394%3Fpage%3D1&v=1&out=http%3A%2F%2Fpalmettostatearmory.com%2Fsig-sauer-magazine-mpx-9mm-20rdcapacity-keymod-mag-mpx-9-20-km.html&title=SIG Talk&txt=Sig Sauer Magazine MPX 9mm 20rd Magazine - MAG-MPX-9-20-KM<%2Fspan>
  12. I had between 500 and a 1000 rounds through my Gen2 MPX when it stopped firing. I inspected the firing pin and found that I couldn't get it to extend past the bolt face. I took pictures and sent them to Sig thinking it had broken. They were great to deal with and sent me an updated bolt carrier and a new firing pin in less than a week, no questions asked. But I couldn't get the new firing pin past the bolt face either! After some fumbling around, I discovered that my Titegroup load had gummed up the bolt. The firing pin has an angled neck before the tip, and that neck had packed the buildup good and tight -- so tight that it felt like metal-to-metal contact pushing the pin through by hand. After scraping it out, the gun is as good as new with the original parts. I guess I should be embarrassed about my poor gun maintenance habits, but mostly I'm just thankful for Sig's customer service. Not only did they take care of a problem that wasn't theirs, they taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of cleaning my junk. Now I feel like I should send them some money for the parts... By the way, I love this gun!
  13. Hey everyone! First, let me say I wasn't sure exactly where the right place to put this topic is, so to the moderators if this is in the wrong section of the forum please move it wherever it should be. Now, the reason I'm posting this thread is to discuss an idea that I've had for a while now. For years I've loved the idea of a race gun - lightweight, fast, powerful, accurate. Tuned machines that combine form and function to produce masterpieces of engineering and art. In addition, for nearly as long I've had a passion for AR-type and similar platforms, but in particular I really honestly am enthralled with the relatively recent trend of manufacturers releasing pistol versions of their well-known rifles and carbines. I recently acquired a new Sig Sauer P516 AR pistol, chambered in 5.56 with 7.5" barrel, and it has quickly and without question established itself as my current favorite gun. The reason I'm explaining all of this is because I only recently had a laughably strange thought, that has snowballed into a serious curiosity... Would it be possible to build an Open division race gun out of a pistol-caliber carbine-based pistol? I have one specific in mind - The new Sig MPX-P, a new proprietary platform developed by Sig, modular in design and available in a pistol variant. Here are some of the most important specs of the platform, if you're interested in reading about it more thoroughly please head over to Sig's product page (I would post a link but can't yet); - Chambered in 9mm, .40S&W or .357SIG - 8 inch barrel - 10, 20, and 30 round mags available - Side-folding stock with AR buffer tube and pistol stabilizing brace is removable (and would be removed for my purposes) Now, a quick disclaimer before I get laughed off the forum - I'm not insane. I am in NO WAY expecting a giant six or seven pound rifle-pistol to be competitive with and stand a chance of beating a highly-tuned, featherweight 2011. If winning was my goal, I'd be thinking about an STI or similar, a traditional more compact handgun. All I want to accomplish with this build would be to simply have some fun, do something differently than everyone else, and end up with a unique, enjoyable oddball of a pistol for my collection. As for more specifically which competitions set of Open Division regulations I wanted to frame my build within, another long-time favorite came to mind - Action Pistol/The Bianchi Cup. Much to my delight, after reading through the official rulebook for AP, I found there are nearly no limitations set on Open Division pistols. In fact the gist of my understanding of regulations for AP Open is "If it's safe, and it shoots at least a 9mm or bigger, you're good to go.". Not only that but I've always loved the brute, raw functionality of the open division guns - with raw blocks of metal on either side of the barrel shroud as barricade wings, tubular red dots, compensators, grip tape plastered all over the gun. That's the style in which I would like to modify an MPX. So, with everything I've just said, I'd like to hear from the experienced AP Open division shooters about this idea. When commenting, PLEASE keep in mind that I am NOT thinking I can slap a red dot and a couple wings on the the rails of this massive "pistol" and have even the slimmest chance at beating a race gun that's been designed, engineered and manufactured from the ground up, three times over, to win an Open Division title in AP. All I really need to know is if I've missed anything that would specifically bar the use of such a pistol-caliber carbine-pistol as the MPX-P? Everything I was able to get my hands on regarding the rules of the various divisions in AP/Bianchi would seem to imply that in the Open Division, truly anything that's safe is allowed to run. Is that a correct understanding? Lastly, before anyone says it, I know I'd have significant problems with finding a workable holster for the platform, just set aside that concern for now. Please post comments, thoughts, questions, etc. - Constructive criticism is always welcome, as long as it is constructive. Thank you all in advance!
