  1. Just got a Tanfoglio Defiant Limited Master 9mm (basically is Stock iii frame with magwell from what I was told and could find). Will this Mec Gar 10rd mag work if I swap the base plate? I know the stock base plate won't work, i'm just trying to figure out if that mag body should. It's been a long time since i've had a Tanfo. https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/885094595 I plan to to put Henning extended base plate on it to clear the mag well. Thanks!
  2. I was wondering, has anyone come up with an improved powder knob for the Evo powder assembly? Something bigger with adjustment indications rather than just the singular arrow? Also, what do you use to prevent the knob from slipping after several hundred throws? I tried using a lock washer but even that doesn't hold after a while. This guy looks awesome, for example for the Dillon folks - https://usa-shop.armanov.com/product/clickable-dillon-precision-powder-thrower-adjustment-knob-assembly-50-clicks/.
  3. Have a bit of an issue and would like some input from this large group. The club I belong to, puts on two matches a month. The day before the match, there are usually only 2-3 of the same people that will take the time to come out to the range and help set up the COF's. On match day we get there about 2-3 hours before the match starts and set the rest of it up. How do you get these shooters to be more involved with COF setup. We all know this is a volunteer sport and can not grow without help from like minded people. We do get some help in tear down, the shooters tear down the last stage, do not load on the trailer nor do they help put everything away. How do other clubs handle this. Do not post scores til everything is put away. Do not post scores of the shooters that do not help? I understand that folks work on Saturday and do not get to the range til 30 minutes before start time. Like some input as to what other clubs do to get folks involved. Thanks, Mike
  4. I subscribe to threads that interest me. I always click my screen name at the top of the screen and then click "subscribed posts" and see all my subscribed threads listed from the most current down to the oldest. This is how I always start reading on the Benos forums... Reading the posts I'm interested in before reading new posts since the last time I logged on... I'm pretty lost now... Help... am I just missing something?
  5. Hi everybody! I have for some time gathered parts for a new upper. Being from Norway getting AR parts isn’t always so easy so when everything finally arrives you are like a child on x-mas eve. This is the pars list: · Troy Alfa rail 15” · 18” Criterion hybrid couture barrel · DPMS standard barrel nut (left over from a barrel I once bought) · Aero stripped upper receiver · Seekins low pro adjustable gas block · Spike melonite gas tube · JP, small Bennie Cooley brake Since I don’t have a torque wrench I did not build the upper myself. Basically I have two problems: I suspect that the gas block is not perfectly sender over the gas hole in the barrel. To make the upper cycle I had to turn the adjustment screw almost all the way out. I noticed that the set screw was not perfectly lined up with the dimple in the barrel. The guy who built the upper said he measured the block and the barrel and that he had to set it a little bit away from the shoulder. I also found it to be a little sideways. Can I trust that the dimple is located where it needs to be on a Criterion barrel and use it to locate the gas block? Second problem is not so easily fixed. I cannot get the Troy Alfa Rail to centre whatever I try it will not line up with the barrel. This should be easy right? I did what the manual say. Al 3 screws are evenly torqued down a little at the time. I even used blue Loctite. I am always careful not to overtight things, but I don’t think tighten them harder will fix anything. I might be wrong? Yesterday at the range (where I noticed everything) I shot a couple of good groups before things started to open up terribly. (The groups had a strange string pattern) I suspect that the barrel is actually touching the handguard under fire, or not enough free floated if you like. The first thing I noticed was that the gas screw was really close to the handguard then I noticed that the barrel was of centre too. (To the opposite side of the gas screw) I could easily make the gas block touch the inside of the hand guard by bending the barrel by hand. The big question is of course. Does anyone of you have an Idea what could be wrong? I am open for any kind of suggestions! Please help? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi all, I've been having some issues lately and couldn't find another posts with the right info so I'm starting this one. I think this is the correct place for it; I'm still new to the forum. Anyway, I have had a lot going on recently. I missed a LOT of school being out of town for a wedding and have to make up all that work in addition to prepping for midterms and finals next week, I'm trying to start several endeavors inside and outside of school that require my attention from a leadership standpoint, I'm doing a lot of research for several projects, and not to mention technical training for the competitive season is picking up. I have a classifier in 2 weeks from Saturday that I'm worried about, even though I will shoot a Master level classifier. I shoot at the Master level all the time. I love to shoot really well. I'm a really good shooter. I shoot well all the time. You get the picture… I'm not sleeping a lot and I'm doing a lot of work which is making me really tired. I need to train physically more, but I don't have the energy for it. Normally, exercise helps when I don't have a lot of energy, but I'm not sure now if it'll help. I don't really know if I'm tired or just doing so much that I don't want to train. Now, I don't think I'm burned out. I want to train. I want to dry-fire. I want to go to the range. But, at the same time, I don't want to do those things because I'm tired. I also am not sure how to stop the cycle. Should I catch up on sleep first? Exercise first? If anyone else has been in a similar situation I'd appreciate on advice on how to get better. Now, this is a mental problem I think, physical training is just one of the possible solutions that I've thought of. Thanks.
  7. Hi, I'm looking to get into 3-gun and I've got a Browning auto-5 my dad gave me years ago. I love the gun, shot many a bird with it over the years but my question is would it be good for 3 gunning? I assume I'd have to get an extension tube (if they make them for that model). Also, I'm not looking to beat the heck outta that gun, would it be better to just buy a new shotgun and keep the Browning for the birds and the memories? Thanks.
  8. Hello. I am new to shooting handguns and just recently bought my first pistol, a CZ75 SP-01 Shadow. I am now considering looking for a competitive league to shoot in and need help choosing what gear to buy. I have done some research and I am considering buying the package from benstoegersproshop .com that includes: Features •5 x Ghost Magazine Pouches ◦Includes bullet nose out (Ben Style) and bullet nose forward (conventional) pouches ◦Works with Double Stack Mags ◦Available Colors : Black, Red, Blue, Green, Silver, White 1 x Double Alpha (DAA) Belt ◦Available Colors : Black, Red, Blue, Silver 1 x BSPS BOSS DOH Holster ◦includes thumb screws All for $269.95 and free shipping. A lot of the forums I have read when searching google were a bit old. Is this currently a good setup? Will this setup allow me to shoot both USPSA and IDPA? What classes will I be able to shoot in each using my SP-01 Shadow and this setup? What changes would you make to this setup? Does anyone know of a cheaper place to purchase these items? Seems like an okay deal to me. Any other advice? Literally anything would be greatly appreciated as I am completely new to this.
  9. Here is the problem, I am using N320 with 124 gr FMJ. The gun is an M&p Pro. c.o.l = 29.05 mm N320 = 3.8 gr The bullets are crimped well enough however the gun is not cycling, most of the cases end up stove piping or remaining attached to the ejector and being put back into battery again. Basic problem is there is not enough force to cycle the gun properly, please help me solve this, i do not think more powder is the solution. Someone suggested shortening the rounds however i do not know by how much. is 1mm too much? Too little? is this even the solution? Please help
  10. Hi Guys, I would like to know where is the best (cheapest) place to buy surefire hearing protection in europe. Also i was reading in the specs that you have to throw them away every 6 months depending on usage, realistically how often do you need to change them?
  11. Hi Everyone, This is my first post so I apologize if it is a little out of the norm or does not follow specific guidelines. I am somewhat new to USPSA shooting with a few competitions under my belt and I have decided this is the sport for me and I am ready to take this to the next level. I am in the designing and planning stages of building a limited gun from the ground up and need some help. I really don't know where to start. 5" or 6" gun? sight tracker barrel? Ignition parts? Narrow frame or wide frame? ramped or unramped? what sights? I would like to hear what has worked for everyone out there and what has failed. I came very close to purchasing an STI Apeiro but decided I could spend the same amount of money to have a fully customized gun built exactly how I want. I am definitly heading down the road of a 2011 frame with the island barrel, but to be honest that is about as far as I've made it. I look forward to everyones responses, after reading through this forum a bit, I'm sure I'll have some very opinionated replies. Thanks guys and gals!
  12. Hi everyone, i posted this topic a couple weeks back in the "introduce yourself" section and wanted to see if maybe i re-posted it in here it might grab someones attention - thank s for looking, and for any help offered! -Chase M. Posted 26 March 2013 - 10:29 AM Hi everyone, I’m a newbie here but have been lurking on the forum for a few months trying to gather tips whenever, wherever I can. I just finished Brian’s book and to say I am inspired would be a tremendous understatement. Who would have thought the concepts, ideas and strategies he thought up 20+ years ago would still be just as relevant as they are today! (Thank you again, Brian) So on to my latest road block - Shooting groups from 18-25+ yards-freehand(I mean standing with both hands). Before you all beat me up too bad - I am following the steps as have been outlined by the master - started out shooting at nothing at all, just the berm. Got comfortable enough to "see" what I needed to see when I needed to see it given the circumstance (shooting at a berm with no target) and felt it was time to move on to bench rest shooting. I stayed on that damn bench until I could get my 2.5-3" groups at 20-25Yds consistently with little or no flyers on most given days. Relying on mechanics, eyes open, calling the shot as best I could see it, following through- everything was working well from the bench. So I moved on...I went in steps- started at 5 yards, moved to 10 then on to 15 and after that is where things started to change...Drastically. I observed that at about 18-20+ yards my fundamentals begin to deteriorate rapidly. I am overcome by "thought" rather than "action" - immediately I am doing mental checks on ALL my fundamentals - stance, grip, pressures, relaxed stomach, FRONT SIGHT, EYES OPEN, trigger, call the shot - EVERYTHING! And its during that time my form just goes to complete shit. I’m anticipating the shot/recoil, losing the front sight, incorrectly calling my shots; it’s just the worst feeling ever. So my remedy when this is happening is to first observe that it is happening and go back to what’s comfortable and easy (I know what a puss) moving it back to 7 yards, 10 yards 15 yards and guess what - as soon as work back up to the 20-25 yard range - it’s the same problem! It’s almost like at that distance (20-25 yds.) my mind flips this anxiety/doubt switch that on some days it literally seems impossible to overcome so i resort back to bench resting, or moving back to 10-15 yards and usually end up leaving the range feeling very unaccomplished and pretty bummed out... Sorry for the rant! Please know I am not looking for that "one special answer" I was really hoping just to get your guys opinions, possibly some tips and maybe some shared similar experiences if at all applicable or relevant to my situation. Thank you everyone in advance for taking the time to read and/or respond all input is much appreciated! Make it a great day everyone!! -Chase M.

  14. Hello all, My name is jeff I'm very new to this wonderful sport. I just got started last Aug in the sport here in canada and i love it. It has been a long winter awaiting the opportunity to get back out side again and train, the anticipation of spring is building. I joined the bullseye league here this winter to keep shooting and work on shot placment and seeing/calling my shots. This site has been a great help in information. I have a couple videos from two of the stages i shot last fall which i would like your critique on. This was my first USPSA match and i borrowed a gun from a fellow shooter, actually the gun owner is the RO (thus the encouragement during the bigger stage). He is also my mentor along with another gentleman. They are a wealth of knowledge. Please tell me what you think and things you see i should to focus on for this year coming. I have a strong desire to become good at this sport and all ur help is greatly appreciated. second stage of the day was also the biggest one of match. had some issues mid go with now seating a mag fully: stage 2 This was probably the 5TH Stage i shot: stage 4
