I currently have Springer Precision extended base pads (Xdm 5.25" .40sw) with Grams spring and follower. My issue is, sometimes the spring or follower (can't tell which) will get stuck and the ammo in the mag just pours out thus causing my gun to malfunction and ruining a stage. I'm guessing the follower tilts sideways and just jams up the mag. How f*#king annoying. What do ya'll do to combat this? Will the Springer Precision follower and spring fix this issue? Though, it does look to be the same profile as Grams just machined out of aluminum. Another thing, one of the screws on the SP basepads won't back-out...how the hell do I take it off? Is it a lost cause? Should I get TTI extended base pads? Will TTI base pads work with SP follower and spring? Should I just stick to whatever spring kit TTI comes with in order to have that extra reliability even though I'm losing that one extra round capacity? What's inside a black hole? Do black hole lives matter? So many questions - what do ya'll suggest? -
I have a couple 170 mm tubes. With either grams or tti spring and follower I can get 27 rounds in with the factory STi basepad, When I put either a grams or TTI basedpased on, I can get extra rounds in, but it always ends up the very first round in gets by the follower and gums up the works. What am I doing wrong?

I asked this over on the 1911 side but since this is spring specific I thought I should ask over here too. I have a Caspian high cap. I have Grams Tanfoglio 11 coil springs and followers in the mags to get 20 reloadable in .40. I need new springs and on Grams website they are not showing on the website anymore http://www.gramsengi...st&iCategory=15 My question is, will the TTI SV/ST springs work for the tanfoglio? Anyone ever do this?

Does anyone sell the grams followers by themselves or do you have to buy the spring kit. I have 12 brand new springs and only need the followers if possible.

We have all heard the rumors, 31 rounds in a big stick. WTH. When I started reading a while back, 29 rounds of 9mm major was pushing it. Then it was "30 is doable if you are loading 38sc". Now I have read someones post, next to a gorgeous blaster, touting 31 rounds. WTH. I have a friend that believes 32 is possible, that one has yet to be seen by this guy, but I am willing to try. -why not. So today, I took 32 dummy 38sc rounds and loaded them into a brand new SV big stick, without a spring/follower in the mag, just to see how much room would be left for them. EEEERRRR-none. So i am 99.99% that 32 is a pipe dream without a gauge, CNC machine, and a magicians wand with fairy dust sprinkled on my thumbs. However, 31 left some wiggle room. Now I have to wonder, just what would be necessary to cram that last round in the mag. Now, I realize that this would be a spring waster, maybe a couple of uses before its off to spring steel heaven. But I would like to have a 31 round mag in my bag at the next level 2+ match. Yes, I understand that it may never make a difference. --So here is where I am at now: --STI tube (tuned) with Dawson base pad and grams spring (tuned) with follower and a spacer. 29 +1 9mm. Reliable With the same tube and base pad, 29+1 38sc. Reliable. --SVI tube (tuned) with grams spring (tuned) and follower, SVI base pad, 30+1 in both 9/38. Reliable Same tube and base pad, SVI spring and follower, 29+1 and 30+1 (dependent on the Follower used). Reliable I have tried a couple of spring and follower combos with little to no advancement. I would like to hear opinions on the Bolen and Taran lines of springs/followers/base pads for the STI/SVI tubes. My intention for this thread is to get an idea of what you are using, how you are tuning, and possibly stumble onto the answer that I am looking for. Hopefully there are others who will get something out of it also. -- List equipment used -- List capacity achieved, and if necessary, how to achieve it -- Tell us about reliability -
I FINALLY got my STI MatchMaster set up the way I want. I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me getting this project off the ground. It's definitely been a journey with a pretty large learning curve, especially for a guy that's used to shooting open with a Glock. I bought a STI MatchMaster from the guys at Shooters Connection, I then found out I would have to replace all the internals in the 140mm mag I had and do the same for the complete 170mm 9mm mag I bought from Top Gun supply. So I ordered the parts for two 140mm mags (STI 140mm tubes, Dawson +1 basepads, Grams guts, SC Hardy spacers) in an attempt to learn how to tune my mags. I'm still working on this particular issue. I also found out that I needed to change my extractor due to my brass hitting the mount that came with the gun, so I did, I got an Aftec and installed it. Then in an attempt to further cure my ejection issue I bought a Cheely 90 degree mount, which I couldn't use because it was about .00001 from my slide. I finally settled on a Cheely RTS mount and I am EXTREMELY happy with it. It's been a learning process to say the least, but I'm extremely happy I did it. So since all you guys have been helping me a figured the least I could do was share a pic or two with you and tell you what I ended up doing to my gun. I have a Dawson lo-pro mag button coming to replace the Ed Brown I have on currently, a Dawson ext firing pin, a 5" STI guiderod, a STI reverse plug (5"), a Dawson Shock buff, and some ISMI springs (7,8,9). I decided to change from the RecoilMaster to a standard RSA, I figured that would allow me to further tune the gun to my loads plus the RecoilMaster is a pain in the butt to deal with. It's easier to change springs than to change your entire RSA. I also have (or have on the way) 3 140mm tubes and 1 170mm tube, Grams springs and followers (1 13 coil, 3 11 coil), 4 Dawson +1 basepads (not SNL), and Hardy spacers (1 170, 3 140's). So, what do you guys think? Without taking into account my mags still need tuned what do y'all think about the gun? Anything I should know or is there anything you guys suggest?
