I've been thinking about this for awhile in regards to the rule below. Manually decocked guns should be allowed to go to half cock for 3 reasons. 1. Consistency of hammer position between decocker and safety models (e.g. CZ SP01 Shadow vs CZ SP01 Tactical) 2. Manually decocking to a half cock notch is safer and easier for shooters to accomplish 3. Will give shooters with short fingers the ability to safely and effectively pull long DA triggers. It makes sense, let's make it happen. -
Forgive me if this has been asked before. In recent years, IDPA has allowed you to shoot a classifier in a more restrictive division (e.g., CDP) and automatically have your score applied in a less restrictive division (e.g., ESP) as well. Has this ever been considered for USPSA? I believe you could have a rig that would fit into both Lim10 and Production, for example, or both Single Stack and Lim10. Any reason why you shouldn't be able to shoot once and have your classification calculated for all applicable divisions?

As a part of my ongoing divisional tour of USPSA, I'm in the process of setting up a carry optics gun. Before I set up a Glock 17 gen 5 with one of my trusty RMRs, or join the dark side and use a 320, I thought I would solicit a few opinions on the best red dot for carry optics. I like and am relatively familiar with the RMR platform, and would use this for self defense, but the lack of dot clarity, blue lens tint, and small field of view is a bit off-putting. I'm seeing a lot of Leupold delta point pros showing up in competition lately, I like the glass quality, and lack of blue lens tint, but have concerns on battery life. Max Michel is having a great deal of success with the Sig optics Romeo 01 (but he's Max Michel), and I like the field of view, but not the biggest fan of the blue tint. Vortex optics has a great reputation and I run a lot of their optics on my more practical rifles. Their warranty is second to none, quality is always good, and I like the Razor I have as a side mount on one of my rifles. All that said I have very little hands on time with the venom, or viper. Any feedback anyone has on what you choose to use and why, or notable issues on the others would be appreciated. Thanks for your time all.

Greetings fellow ninjas. I'd like to hear YOUR stories, and how you've managed (or haven't) to settle on a specific division in USPSA, at least long enough to rise to your proficiency goals. For my story, I grew up in Indiana, and my uncle owned a large gun shop in Wabash (some of you Hoosiers may remember Lengel's guns), so firearms and hunting are absolutely not new to me. Naturally, I've always been a collector and more-than-casual marksman. About five years ago, I was introduced to the sport by a couple ubiquitous border patrol homies of mine, and I started by shooting what I had, which was a Glock 35. I stuck with it and managed to classify B in limited division. Since I was starting to get serious, I elected to start acquiring more sport-specific firearms. I shot single-stack for about a year and the military career and twin 5 year old girls at home have slowed down my match participation, but it has not slowed down my collecting habit. Since I started down single-stack, I've collected a couple of STI Trojans (one from the forum right here a couple of weeks ago--I just can't stop myself). I also found a great deal on a Trubor in 9mm Major locally, and a well-adorned Edge .40 (also off the forum). I've shot the Trubor at a few steel matches, and shot the Limited gun in practice a few times, along with a few practice sessions with the SS guns, and the occasional match with any of the above. I guess what I'm getting at is that I don't know if it's about the game or the guns or both? If it were solely about the gun that was the most fun to shoot, I'd probably have to go with Open. For the challenge of the game, SS is certainly challenging. Limited seems to be a sweet spot between the Open and SS. SS minor is a blast, but Cs/Ds crush your soul. Bottom line is that I really enjoy shooting all three divisions. They all seem to have different strategies and challenges, and the fun factor varies by stage design, my proficiency that day, and naturally--the group of folks I'm shooting with. My worry is that since I'm having this identity crisis, I may not rise to the level I once was when I was hot and heavy with ONE GUN, nonetheless, make A (this year's goal). How did y'all overcome this? What made YOU pick the division you stuck with / stayed with the most? Is it okay to just shoot whatever I feel like shooting that day (for fun) and stop worrying about classification? I want to hear your story. Thanks! FATSO

We use an online match signup front end that creates a .csv file for match registration... We used it last month for the first time for our monthly Steel Challenge match... The main problem I had was syncing the division names because the same USPSA division names are different in Android PractiScore USPSA matches than they are in PractiScore Steel Challenge matches... USPSA .................... Steel Challenge Open ...................... OPN Limited ................... LTD Production ............. PROD Revolver ................ nothing Single Stack .......... SS Carry Optics .......... CO If the front end uses the USPSA division names, you have to delete and replace all the division names in PractiScore every time you run a Steel Challenge match... Why aren't the names the same? This seems pretty basic to me... -
The rules for 3 Gun Heavy Metal Limited Division state: "...Not more than one (1) non-magnified electronic or optical sight is permitted. Electronic or optical sights originally designed to be capable of any magnification (whether used or not) are prohibited." Can anyone here recommend a non-magnified electronic sight (eg. a red dot) for use on an M1A? How about a non-magnified optical sight (a scope) for use on the same rifle? Thanks much. -
Hi there people, I'm taking special interest in 3 gun or multigun competition and still trying how rules work. I used to participate in high power rifle only so all these news rules and divisions are New to me. One question I have is in which division falls a shooter using an AR15 with lead weights in both buttstock and handguard? sights are non magnified. Thanks for the enlightment you throw in this matter.

Hi, I am a junior shooter that has some questions about 3 gun divisions. Are 3-gun and multi-gun the same? Do they have different rules? I have a 5.56 Ar-15, a stock 9mm handgun, a Cordoba that holds 2, and a 870 pump 12 gauge. What devision would I shoot in if I use the pump, handgun, and ar?

Hey all! I've been a fan of these forums for quite some time and just recently decided I needed to join as I start down my USPSA path. I shot my first unoffocial USPSA match around halloween. It was a blast and my local club did an incredible job putting it all together. After that I was hooked deep and since then I have become a USPSA member, purchased some gear ( Glock 34 Gen4, FO Sevigny Sights, ZEV tek springs and guide rod, DAA belt with 5 CR mag holders ), some good reading material ( Brian's book as well as a few from Ben Stoeger ) and went out with a friend who's a USPSA master and fine tuned some great 130PF loads. I am a little torn on which direction I should go to start with. I am considering production, limited or L10 at the moment. I would like to start down a road where I can ultimately switch between division and be comfortable. I've read on the forums that some of you say go production because of stage breakdown and being forced to reload more to really get some good fundamentals and then I've seen others say go with limited so you don't have to reload so often and focus on getting comfortable shooting comps. Any advice you can offer me? At the moment my 34 is production legal. Most of my friends who shoot the local matches shoot limited because they like to go out blazing and have a good time. I enjoy that as well but I see myself doing this for a long time to come and would like to start out on the right foot if thats even possible. My first official match will be this Sunday. My Taurus Team friends Alex Larche and Jessie Duff friends suggest I go production ( Alex ) and limited ( Jessie ).

I was at my local club this weekend, helping demo a USPSA stage. The next bay over was hosting the IDPA demo. I borrowed a vest and made it all the way to "make ready" concealed....... RO: "Thats not Legal! How many rounds do you have in that magazine?". Me: "18 -30, what is the limit?". Him: "18". Me: I have enough. Him: I guess you do, Standby" The RO was really cool about my ideas for a new division, the lady who had just shown me "how its done" was unable to hide her distaste for my way of shooting her stage. Most fun I have ever had at IDPA.
