I recently had my shadow 2 Cerakoted. I had the urban gray and it was flaking off something serious. I get the pistol back from the store, take it home, and reassemble. A couple days go by and I finally have time to Dryfire. 1 Dryfire session and the magwell looks like this and cerakote has started to come off the front from holster wear. I thought cerakote was more durable then this. For what it cost I would have had the gun finished a different way, unless this is considered excessive wear.

I am thinking of having the upper and lower receiver cerakoted. Looking at disassembling all the parts and have a few concerns. While its a little different than an AR I think I see what needs done. I am just wondering anyone has any words of wisdom that can keep me from learning something the hard way for once? Thanks Andrew

hey guys, i am sure this has been covered but i was unable to dig it up in my search. i have a brazos BCG open blaster. i got it coated (grip,frame,slide, small parts) and i just want to get the barrel done now. the rest of gun is in cerakote, but did not know if cerakote would be a good choice for a barrel in an open gun. i dont want the barrel to be gone for a long long time as this is my only open gun but if i have to wait i will. How do you guys feel about cerakote finish on a barrel? BNi? i know there are many others so any input would help. or link to a thread already started about this. thanks

Looking for a good online supplier for Cerakote coatings that has good prices. Just starting out, I've been in the collision repair field for several years & I'd like to try out some cerakote on an AR build. I know that Midway USA & Brownell's has it but its the same price as it is on the Cerakote website. Anyone have a place they would recommend that has better prices? -
After a tragic folly (remedied by Kneelingatlas) I finally finished up my TS. I put all the goodies you would expect from a gamer and then sandblasted and Cerakoted it at my house. Im amazed at how this setup turns a 172PF .40 into a marsh mellow. The lightened slide and 13# recoil spring helps a lot. The original slide was damaged (but has been fixed) although it lacks in the beauty department. Im not sure what I should do with it now. (I will post another topic about later) Anyway I couldnt be more happy with the way this project turned out. I have a Dawson STI Edge but I honestly prefer my TS over it. What do you guys think?

My good friend's father passed away about fifteen years ago and left him with his reloading collection (RL 1050, XL 650, and a 550 along with components, etc.). It's been sitting in his garage until recently. He doesn't reload so I did some horse trading for the RL 1050 a couple of months ago. I already had three Super 1050s: one for 9mm, one for processing .223 and one for loading .223. The idea of snagging the RL 1050 for exclusive 9mm use was intriguing, so I picked it up. Needless to say, it was rough with rust and age (I had started disassembly): Before: And now after: I sent off the base, toolhead, and a few other pieces for Cerakoting at Valkyrie Combat here locally. They whipped up a blue and silver for the parts to give it some variety after it was blasted and prepped. I used polished stainless bolts and hardware where I could. I ordered a new bearing kit from Dillon as well. I had a majority of the moving parts Nickel Boron coated by WMD Guns. This included the main shaft, primer system, swager, crankshaft, shell plate nut, case feed plunger and roller/bolt, and others. I wanted to experiment with the NiB coating as it has some positives, including lubricity. If I can limit the amount of lubricants on the press, hopefully I can keep the mess to a minimum (wishful thinking with me). As you can see, it isn't quite finished so I haven't had the chance to load on it yet. I've got it mostly running and can say it is nice and smooth. I'm upgrading my Super 1050s similarly, mostly with the NiB coated parts. I'll keep you advised as the experiment progresses.

I bought this gen 3 Glock 35 from MadMadWorld about a month ago. I hated the slide painting, and have done that along with some other work to end up with a gun fit to me. I decided to go all in and make the gun exactly the way I wanted it, instead of doing minor modifications to a gun in case I wanted to sell it some day. Anyhow, here's a couple pics and list of work done! Lightened 2.5 lb Trigger w/ Overtravel Stop (already done when purchased) Extended Mag Release (does anyone know who makes this one??) Shaved, Reduced, and Silicon Carbide Grip Work Double Undercut Trigger Zev Aluminum Magwell Stainless Guide Rod Burnt Bronze Cerakote Slide, Magwell, and Mag Release Taran Tactical Sights Ghost, Dot, and Taran Tactical Connectors (haven't decided which I like best yet) Taran Tactical Basepads (not pictured)

Finally refinished my Glock27 with Cerakote's H series Zombie Green & Graphite Black. The process is tedious but with patience(something I don't have) it's a great finish if you are curious about refinishing any of your firearms. I have tried duracoatand & it is a good product but does not hold it's finish like cerakote. WELL! What do you think?

If this has been previously covered, please link to the right place. My Search-Fu is weak. If there is a better area to post this, please move it! I'm building an open blaster that I will be keeping FOREVER. I want something original. I never see colors on a gun but the typical HC, DLC, Silver satin, Desert Tan, Bronze etc. I'm building a race gun, and want to pimp it out with a racy color without sacrificing durability or function. Do I have options? Any pics of colored guns out there? Thanks for sharing your input!
